Times change. In agrarian America, most people were farmers. Unfortunately, for most people today who would like the life of a small farmer, this objective is very hard to accomplish in the face of large commercial agricultural operations. You speak of "proper" ways of life. I guess that's in the eyes of the beholder, my friend.Daktoria wrote:I'm not disagreeing with you there. The point is when capitalism is crony, people seek to revolutionize the system in order to discipline that cronyism.
Just because injustice exists doesn't mean people have the faculty to properly discipline it. Latin America is a good example of this. There are lots of pragmatic, functionalist, utilitarian capitalists who destroyed the holistic, organic, proper ways of life there. In turn, principle disappeared, and practice is all that remained.
Now, those local populations who had their lives destroyed seek to revolutionize the system in order to bring principle back.

New technologies would never come into existence under socialism, which snuffs out the spirit of people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.Bill Wiltrack wrote:Free market capitalism along with the emerging new technologies such as 3D printing and the emergence of the internet along with smart phone technology will put us on the quickest path to universal socialism leaving capitalism in the useless bin of history where it evidently belongs.

...ya ever hear of social media?
ya ever wonder what the social part of that term means?
We are moving - quickly moving, to a near zero marginal cost society.
When that happens capitalism will be moved to the back of the line...where it belongs.

What does "social media" have to do with socialism? What the hell do you even mean by "zero marginal cost society"? You're either off your meds or starting to use drugs again.Bill Wiltrack wrote:...ya ever hear of social media? ya ever wonder what the social part of that term means? There is a guy named Jeremy Rifkin that has really influenced my thought processes as far as economics and where the world is heading.
I'd supply a link to him here but I really don't want you to read his works or see his numerous videos on youtube.
Supply-Side Economics Has Failed Us but it is important that most people don't see this yet.

To summarize your argument:
Hitler was a vegetarian
All vegetarians eat no meat
Vegetables cause cancer in mice
Conclusions:
1) Hitler was a mouse
2) You are a moron

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and Henry Ford looked to the government for inspiration.Arising_uk wrote:The majority of such inventions came from socialised educational establishments or govt projects.bobevenson wrote:New technologies would never come into existence under socialism, which snuffs out the spirit of people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Funny as all three pretty much heisted their ideas from others. On top of that Edisons electricity system was useless for purpose, Bell didn't invent the telephone and the model T did not become the format for the car but I'll give him the production line.bobevenson wrote:Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and Henry Ford looked to the government for inspiration.

Them's the one's, you know, the inventors. Although you need to read more up-to-date history books.bobevenson wrote:Oh, you mean those non-Americans who were too stupid to wind up in the history books?

You're grasping at straws in the face of European socialism that sucks the spirit out of all its citizens.Arising_uk wrote:You're right but the books do.bobevenson wrote:Sorry, history doesn't change with the times.

Er! No, I'm pointing-out that the history books say that those you mentioned weren't the inventors you said they were.bobevenson wrote:You're grasping at straws in the face of European socialism that sucks the spirit out of all its citizens.
It's a bit like how, thanks to Hollywood, some Yanks now believe that America broke the enigma code, quaint but historically incorrect.
