One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
Time dosnt age . consciousness dosnt age
Time dilates . consciousness dilates.
Time dilates . consciousness dilates.

Not correct Hex. Integration of experience over time is a legitimate area when it comes to the science of consciousness.HexHammer wrote:Based on any scientific writing, they never mention time as a factor to consciousness, only in philosophy very weird people will get that farfetched idea.rajium wrote:Hexhammer. You are saying time has no effect on consciousness?
Can give some reason why you say this? Seems contrary to all physical law.
Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
Could you plz provide link to that science article, or is it something you grab out of thin air from fairytale land?Ginkgo wrote:Not correct Hex. Integration of experience over time is a legitimate area when it comes to the science of consciousness.
So if memory is conciousness, then any computer is concious? .........not?
Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
Yes, epiphenomenalism is a dualistic theory. I think I made mention of that. The smoke and fire example was only an analogy. The science of consciousness isn't interested in dualistic theories. I think i might of mentioned that as well.rajium wrote:
epiphenomonalism requies duelism unless we allow the 'epiphenomon' to affect its environment. Even smoke affects fire. Too much smoke in a small room will smother the flames.
Yes, even in a small room most of what we experience goes unattended. Attention is a key component of consciousness theory.rajium wrote: The key here is the small room, yes. But that's exactly why consciousness is useful. Lets say there is a shoking event, a loud buzz. Your conscious self may be attending to something else.
Yes, it is possible that the attentional theory of consciousness can address this particular aspect.rajium wrote: When the loud noise occurs your brain creates a conscious awareness of the event. This infact catalyzes the action of covering ears. This action may be performed without conscious awareness but I believe studies have shown that being conscious of the event creates a more robust and quicker more accurate response. So being conscious changes the brain's response.

Hex there are numerous scientific articles on temporal unity and consciousness. The above is just one of many.
No one is saying consciousness is memory.Hexhammer wrote:

I think you misinterpret "over time" as time is a time measurement factor, when it's just a saying and shouldn't be understood as the time dimension.

Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
Do you think super position involves time. Because thats the level of root consciousness thats involved in measuring c. Or are you just full of bull. Time is obviously involve in everything as it is omni present to all action. And consciousness deals with action. Stop trying to kid a kidder with bull.ha.

I picked this article randomly as a means of providing an example. All we have is little more than an introduction. Nonetheless, the introduction to the article tells us what we need to know . It tells us the article will be talking about statistical variation over time. In other words, data relating the the similarity of particular type of signal over a specific time period. It is actually a time measurement factor.

The reason temporal unity is introduced into the science of consciousness is simply because moments of experiences are not extensionless.
Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
This explains nothing about concousness, nor even if it was only a minor factor to experience over time, computers that record data doesn't become more concious over time just because they record data over long periods like years or even decades.Ginkgo wrote:HexHammer wrote:Ginkgo

Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
No, because I have never said this and never will. No one in the field of consciousness studies as ever made such a claim.HexHammer wrote:This explains nothing about concousness, nor even if it was only a minor factor to experience over time, computers that record data doesn't become more concious over time just because they record data over long periods like years or even decades.Ginkgo wrote:HexHammer wrote:Ginkgo

What I am saying is true. There is nothing in the literature claiming computers recording data become conscious over time.HexHammer wrote:..SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!Ginkgo wrote:No, because I have never said this and never will. No one in the field of consciousness studies as ever made such a claim.

Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
Are some of us getting confused with time and the appearance of time?? I would like to address the appearance of time as a construct of consciousness. Time exists outside of this conscious appearance, but I would like to explore how they are associated. Anyone have something to offer?
Re: One 2 Zero film project and the role of consciousness
I think it would be obvious if there were a conscious computer that arrived from simple collection of data over time. The collection of data is only a small part of consciousness. Am I missing something, or does the idea of collecting data over time as some sort of root to consciousness seem misguided? Many naturally made non-living things collect data. (Which is not to say data exists only if someone can decode it-physics may do that for us). I don't see the idea as salient.
