Angry Liberals

Post by tbieter »

To live with a gnawing grudge against one’s own civilization is the way to a personal Hell, not to a Terrestrial Paradise.

Russell Kirk
Each day I usually listen to Rush Limbaugh's show. He frequently observes that liberals are always angry at something or someone in society, exactly what Kirk states above.

The conservative, in contrast, takes delight in the beautiful things of the day. The other day a cardinal visited my patio to enjoy the scattered bread. Seated about ten feet away, his visit made my day.

I don't think that's true or conservatives wouldn't be so unhappy as to complain about it. There's a saying,

"If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

So why are conservatives so bat shit crazy as to actively want to make us unhappy? They know time has shown we don't let them have peace unless we get what we want....which basically boils down to civil rights.

So what have we learned from this? Conservatives will never have true happiness and peace until all our brothers and sisters have happiness and peace. Don't fight it...you always lose in the end. You're just making yourselves sick (er).

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I think the rest of the world looks at American Conservatives with absolute bewilderment. The USA has the highest per capita proportion of its population imprisoned in the world; it has an insane homicide rate; it has a huge disparity between rich and poor and yet it is stuffed with complacent 'conservatives' who lack the imagination to see how things could be better. I'm not an American, so I don't know if your countrymen have a gnawing grudge against your 'civilization'; I do know that Americans have produced a lot that is full of beauty and wonder and that anyone who believes that it is only 'conservatives' that have contributed anything worthwhile must be mind-bogglingly selective.

I think the rest of the world looks at American Conservatives with absolute bewilderment. How did you become qualified to speak for the "rest of the world"? The USA has the highest per capita proportion of its population imprisoned in the world; it has an insane homicide rate; it has a huge disparity between rich and poor These conditions, more or less, are found in every country and are said to be, historically, the "human condition". and yet it is stuffed with complacent 'conservatives' who lack the imagination to see how things could be better. What evidence can you offer to support your generalization? I'm not an American, so I don't know if your countrymen have a gnawing grudge against your 'civilization'; I do know that Americans have produced a lot that is full of beauty and wonder and that anyone who believes that it is only 'conservatives' that have contributed anything worthwhile must be mind-bogglingly selective.I don't know any conservative who asserts that.

I'll give Kirk a lot of credit. Not many people would admit to listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Here tbieter, let me rephrase so we can get to the bottom of Russell's quote:
To live a life of tending those things of one's civilization requiring change can be hell, unlike the paradise of ignoring them. "Ignorance is bliss," is another way to look at it.

Because they care about changing the wrong to right, which is almost always a fight.

The conservative, in contrast, takes delight in the beautiful things of the day. The other day a cardinal visited my patio to enjoy the scattered bread. Seated about ten feet away, his visit made my day.
The conservatives feel they can sit back and relax, because all the wrongs are stacked in their favor.
Edit: placed the start of color where it belonged.

I also take pleasure in the world's beauty. I'm not always an angry liberal...lol. I think this idea that liberals are more angry than conservatives is wrong as it seems to me conservatives can get quite angry when forced to cough up a few tax dollars for the collective good. :)

I live there.

Only the US has the world's highest per capita prison population. Have you seen the figures for homicide in the US? What you blithely dismiss as the "human condition" is something that people with any measure of empathy try to improve.

Rush Limbaugh's ratings.

You wouldn't expect Rush Limbaugh complaining about other people complaining. He's not only a right wing nut, but he's in a permanent rant against anything that doesn't fit his typically stupid views.

You can keep a watch on these conservative fools here:

ME too AS, Me too. I sometimes stand by our garden of flowers and watch the bees buzzing from flower to flower, thinking, "man what a miraculous world we live in." I often think the same thing as I watch a hummingbird, drinking the nectar I've made for them, or simply looking up into the night sky, at the stars and or the moon, hoping to see a UFO, one that I really can't explain. Man, that would be a charge! Or WoMan in this case. ;)

Happy Holidays AS

And the rest of you too! :D

What exactly do you mean by 'liberal'? Do you mean those dreadful people who believe in equal rights, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, human rights etc. etc.?

Who pissed in your cereal this morning veggie?

FYI Veggie, Saint Nicholas or Sinterklaas/Santa Claus originated in Europe, NOT the Americas.

Oh and keep your uptight bitterness to yourself as well. Smile, it might just make you feel good. ;)

Isn't it odd how conservatives talk about the beauty of nature and then go on to deny climate change and promote wild savage capitalism.
