Ideas & Reality - Wanting to Change the World

Post by WanderingLands »

Within the individual realm of looking into reality, we can acquire knowledge, through empirical and psychic (as in mental/thought) processes; we can acquire Truth in its essence (that everything is of Oneness), and yet as a whole (due to the Universe being limitless) we mainly grasp part of it (as paradigms) when looking at Truth as a manifested whole. What I mean is to look at it as the synthesis between the universal essence and its particulars (such as history, science, etc), and that's mainly because of the fact that the whole is seen by individual minds, and that many may disagree or criticize whatever worldview is put out. It also has to do with the capacity of knowing and understanding than an individual can have; by intelligence and education, cultural and environmental upbringing, and also lifespan. To put it simply, we as individuals are particulars inside the universal, and the only way to possibly grasp the manifested universal is to go beyond being your particular 'Identity' and striving to become the Universe or God, which would involve having to 'give up' all the individual characteristics, that which is taught by the philosophies such as that of Vedanta, or Neoplatonism and Hermeticism.

I am not saying that it can not be done at all, just because it has not been done in the past, but it definitely a great feat to achieve. However, besides knowing the Truth in both unmanifest and manifest form, another difficulty is to completely change it to one's own liking. As individuals, the only way of 'changing the world' is to change ourselves, either our thoughts or actions - or both. The reason why we can't change the world per se is because trying to do so in the past had involved tremendous conflicts that have caused deaths and division amongst people. In the end, all that's accomplished is the 'Us vs. Them' mentality that's found in organized religions, governments, cults, revolutionary groups, political parties, etc. As part of keeping things 'flowing', there are always contradictions and/or multiplicities of all things, which logically follows from the fact that existence is limitless.

Just went through a couple months of this...trying to change the world by changing myself first.

Made a continual point to travel outside of me; outside of my comfort zone.

Sheesh...what a pain in the ass.

Don't know if it changed anything.
I cannot see anything now. I am totally lost.

Going back to myself.

It takes time and effort to be able to transform oneself to whatever higher being you want to be. When you think you've learned and been through it all, you end up getting hit in the face to realize that there are things still outside of your grasp (that is - at least how I view it). That's what makes us individuals.

That, I believe, is from the full look into your past and the realization of your mistakes - it may be a 'Kundalini' Awakening, or just an awakening in general. It's definitely something that I have experienced many times, and it's something that has propelled my continuous long-term efforts of self-mastery and transformation. Perhaps this should be an opportunity for you (whatever problems you may have) to further undertake something bigger and to improve yourself.

Great post – certainly shows some deep thinking.

You are certainly spot on with the need to go beyond you identity, the difficulty is how can you go beyond yourself with yourself, like an eye cannot see itself and water cannot wet itself how can a knower know themselves

I have been through many systems questioning and not getting anywhere because the ultimate solution is to transcend all systems. I can personally state this is possible if you are given the energy to transcend all levels of creation and attain God or as I prefer Absolute consciousness. If you are after more information you can message me outside of this thread as I don’t want to get flamed for posting a URL or going off the main theme.

Thank you for the warm reception. My thinking and conclusion came from the influence of reading German Idealist philosophy, especially that of Hegel and to the lesser extant, Kant and Schelling. For me, it's all about transcending all particular systems to get to the entire conception, although it does take an exploration into these systems and a bit of logic and reason. But more than just intellectual exercising in the brain, it takes an exploration into spirituality, and especially the esoteric sciences that exist in the world.

By the way, you don't have to worry about getting flamed for posting URLs - I do that all the time in my posts. Plus I am quite interested in looking at what you have explored, as I am interested in exploring things that I may still not now or comprehend. If you prefer PM, than that's fine.

Just an FYI this is not a typical new age site and note there are many similar groups that come out with a load of BS. What we say is challenging; we are unique in that we can stand up and testify to advanced states of consciousness as opposed to talk about it or repeat what it is printed in books.

Good luck on your quest!

A litany of childish assertion and pure speculation meaning nothing and signifying nothing.
There is no reason why there could be any such thing as "The Truth".

Can you expand on this a bit more? Give your reasons?

I'm thinking more about changing the world, and realizing that universal change does happen. However, it does not change the particulars in the universe, which means that true justice and change is not about creating an organized form of institution that oversees people to make sure that they follow their precepts. If an individual were to change oneself and the sphere around him/her, then that could spread to other individuals which creates a bond. An honest bond, though, must adhere to the universal principles and ethics that have been established; but, however, must learn to accept plurality and critique of whatever is in society.
