I don't need ...
  • protecting
I think you'll find you do.
  • educating
Maybe not now, but I think you'll find that's because when you did, you were.
  • enlightening
On the contrary, that seems to be a sore need.

Mick,

"Protecting: I think you'll find you do."

I'm 51...local law enforcement hasn't done diddly for me in all that time.

Insofar as I can tell: nether has national 'peacekeeping'.

Prove otherwise.

"Educating: Maybe not now, but I think you'll find that's because when you did, you were."

I was privately educated...Not a dollop of 'public education'.

#

Enlightening: On the contrary, that seems to be a sore need.

Speak for yourself... :|

Optimism is a political act. Those who benefit from the status quo are perfectly happy for us to think nothing is going to get better. In fact, these days cynicism is obedience.

From 'The Liberty Mainfesto', by P.J. O'Rourke...

There are just two rules of governance in a free society:

Mind your own business.
Keep your hands to yourself.

'nuff said.

You may want to check this book out: Hedrick Smith, WHO STOLE THE AMERICAN DREAM? At Amazon you will find 265 reviews of this book, which has stirred quite a bit of interest. It also discusses Business Ethics. http://www.amazon.com/Stole-American-Dr ... ewpoints=1

This (8/08/14) news item tells about Arthur T. Demoulas, a C.E.O. who really knows how to run a business !! It explains how he did it, and now continues doing it. This company, Market Basket, really sets a good example of Applied Ethics, Business Ethics. Its story should be in every business ethics classroom. http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/201 ... story.html

How many corporations do you know of where the workers, at the risk of losing their jobs, would go out and picket, and demonstrate, to demand the return of their C.E.O. who was dismissed? And what a great public boycott was organized to protest his firing by his cousin in a family feud :!:

This New England food chain does not have a union for its workers, but what a remarkable story it has to tell! See the details here: http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/201 ... story.html

He won the loyalty of his employees who benefited from solid wages, regular bonuses, and a generous profit-sharing plan. More than a hundred of the staff refused to work until he was reinstated as president.

Ask the candidate for a written definition of his or her duties as a representative and a signed pledge to carry out those duties. Alternatively:

HA!

I'm partial to Cthulhu myself.

Why vote for the lesser of two evils?

Well, it's a good thing you are a constitutional republic rather than a democracy.

He's gonna eat the world no matter what.

How about, 'Barring yourself who would you vote for for this office?'.

Stupid question if you consider that all the other candidates are related to Satan (why don't you see if you can get this topic locked too?).

Why would it have to be the other candidates?

I actually asked for it to be deleted but what the hey!

Tell you what, why not see if you can control your monomania and this thread stays open. So what is this 'Satan' you talk about bob?
