Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

I Prayed For a Sign - I Think I Got It!

Been having a bit of a rocky time lately so I looked into myself and I prayed for a sign -any sign, from god.

I prayed and I prayed and I looked hard and continued praying.

I probably shouldn't be this open
but here goes...

I put my trust in the understanding of the moderators and the empathy of the membership here at the Philosophy Now Forum.

Quite frankly, I've had over 3,000 posts upon this forum and this post, by far, is my most difficult...

I remembered this blessing from long ago:

John 4:48 - So Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.”

I wasn't disappointed:

To me this is proof.

My faith is strengthened and my love for philosophy is deepened.

My thesis: Don't give-up!

Don't EVER doubt the power of faith!

As you can imagine, I couldn't take my eyes off this sign from god, for the rest of the afternoon.

Later when our pup was eating it's chow I had a bit of a feeling of revelation.

In the spur of a moment I found myself on all fours, kissing the face of Jesus repeatedly, saying, It's alright, It's alright. I LOVE you. Everything is going to be alright.

Suddenly heard a gasp behind me. I turn to see my wife who must have entered the kitchen. I think she too saw the vision of mine for she immediately screamed, Oh my GOD!

I just grinned sheepishly
and said, Isn't this moment beautiful? I feel I have a new reason to live!

Yes, god works in strange ways at times but I am a firm believer and HE does work!

He does answer! Don't stop believing!

Don't give-up!

Don't EVER doubt the power of faith!

...And, I'd like to know of any stories that you may have of outer signs presented to you that strengthen your inner faith.

God bless.

Can ebola be transmitted by domestic animals like dogs and cats?

Ya know, like the Liberians that kiss their dead we here at the PhilosophyNow Forums may wish to kiss the face of Jesus that appears on my little chum above.

Is infected urine and feces flushed down the toilet or is it released upon the ground where plants, arthropods, and birds would fall prey to becoming a living host to this explosive virus?

Please feel free to kiss the face of Jesus that I have provided for you on your monitor above in my original post.

I think it will bring you good luck.

Let us pray for the 8,000+ children who die of starvation each and every day...

No, it's transferred by touching humans at present.

This your solution?

Should we also thank 'God' for the billion odd who don't?

'In 1960 we were 1 billion children below 15 years of age and we were 35% of the world population. Now there are 1,9 billion children in the world, but they are but 27% of world population. In 2050 there will still be an estimated 1.9 billion kids, but they will be only 20% of world population.'

We need more kids and less old people. Make War! & Babies!

So, while I have you here just standing around being corrected, you are telling me that we are positive that primates, forms of shrimp and other invertebrates, plants, and fruit bats definitely are carriers of this ebola virus and the jury is still out on ALL OTHER FORMS OF LIFE.

So...that's where you stand?

That's what you were trying to tell me?

I'm sorry. I was doing something else for a minute.

Did you answer my questions above while I was gone or did the cat catch your tongue?

Are you hard of thought? I told you were I stood, corrected that Ebola can possibly be transmitted by domestic animals.
That's what you were trying to tell me?.
Yup, that is what I told you.

I answered your question the first time. You want to try it sometime.

Personally I got bored with your endless emoting about whatever catches your eye in current affairs as it's invariably about the promotion of your misery and existential angst.

You ought to take the advice of your former religion,

" 'God', give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen."

Rejoin your faith Bill.

I feel like I may be making the first tiny steps towards a recovery of some sorts; a return to faith in myself and in Organized Labor.

Thank you for participating within the scope of this thread.
