Man you guys really know your movies.

Pleasure to see so many great suggestions. Thanks all.

If you were though going to place your favourite movie of all time and recommend me: a plebian amongst movie goers a great all time great movie, what would you place in the number 1 spot; now I know that is impossible if you're a movie fan, it of course changes over time but what is that one movie that could never change over time that you would just stick at number 1 for all time, because every time you watch it sends chills up and down your spine..? So recommend me that? I am pretty sure that movie is one to see, and that one movie that you love so much is one to never miss..?

For example my favourite movies of all time are fairly straight forward, they are in a top 10, but there are one or two of them I would just rate as the best of all time so let me know what yours is... i'll watch it, being the movie buff I am I'll be sure to watch that archetypical movie of all time, even if it is Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus, which is of course the greatest movie of all time.

I also like the music from the movies, I like the main theme from Schindler's List but I know the story so I will probably not watch the movie. I did watch the clip about "The Girl in the Red Coat" and probably will not watch it again. There is a song I liked from a movie "The days of Wine and Roses", it seemed to be a really sweet song full of happy times, then I watched the Movie. If you like the song, don't watch the movie, it puts a completely different slant on the song. On the other hand "Casablanca" put a good feeling on the song "As Time Goes By", so that would be a movie that will not spoil the music.

Incidentally Cassablanca is in my all time top 10, the dialogue snap crackles and pops, it's moral story about how love conquers all, it's selfless and charming it's one of the greats, although best HB movie IMHO is probably The African Queen, matter of taste though...

Not that anyone is going to watch it but if you a movie nerd, it's well known they had to film this scene so many times, because the actors just could not stop laughing at the dialogue, you can kinda see it. One of the funniest most memorable scenes I think I have ever seen. And no that is not a pun.

Just look at the cast list, when you have that many good actors in one room, you know you are going to see something special. That's not acting by the way they really just can't stop laughing, it's probably what makes the scene...

I would recommend also not as my favourite movie certainly but The Fifth Element, it's quite funny, very odd, and it has lots of gratuitous nudity, without it being male nudity. So if you are a man assuming you are not gay (which is fine different strokes and all) or a lesbian assuming you like female nudity which you may (I don't judge either way) or not a woman who likes men but not naked and in the wherewithall unless it's some guy you really like naked, or a woman who likes men but er, and anyway before I lose the plot entirely, I'd certainly say it's a must see. Certainly one of those films that sounds from the plot description, like it's going to be utter crap but it kinda is one of those movies that pleasantly surprises you. It has Bilbo Baggins in it, and that guy from that film Leon, and a black guy, I don't know the name of off hand, but who is just blimmin marvelous, and Bruce Willis, and Milla Jujovavitch, who let's face it although not in the same league as some Actresses, you probably wouldn't kick her out of bed. And that guy who is in Red Dwarf and plays the Captain is in it too, forget the name, you know who I mean, cameo roll but it's quite a good one as it goes.

Long rambling semi coherent monologue short, you could do worse...

Storyline

In the twenty-third century, the universe is threatened by evil. The only hope for mankind is the Fifth Element, who comes to Earth every five thousand years to protect the humans with four stones of the four elements: fire, water, Earth and air. A Mondoshawan spacecraft is bringing The Fifth Element back to Earth but it is destroyed by the evil Mangalores. However, a team of scientists use the DNA of the remains of the Fifth Element to rebuild the perfect being called Leeloo. She escapes from the laboratory and stumbles upon the taxi driver and former elite commando major Korben Dallas that helps her to escape from the police. Leeloo tells him that she must meet Father Vito Cornelius to accomplish her mission. Meanwhile, the Evil uses the greedy and cruel Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg and a team of mercenary Mangalores to retrieve the stones and avoid the protection of Leeloo. Seriously though the whole dead in the bathroom thing in Clerks and the way it is just so relentlessly funny is why it's another must see movie. If you don't like Kevin Smith films, watch it anyway, it's a laugh riot, their first film shot in black and white and you could honestly do a lot worse. Mallrats for example is a lot worse, but still has it's moments.

'The Red Balloon'? A beautiful 1950s short French film with no words at all. I wouldn't bother with the 'remastered' version though.

Seen and loved, charming not all French art films are really my bag, but that one just has something.

That said La vie en Rose is pretty good too, as are generally any French film with a colour in the name.

And yeah no one expects that. That's just not right in any sense or imagined sense of the word right. In fact that is so very wrong, but nonetheless quite funny. Goodbye horses, goodbye...

Oh and a tenuous link at best but you could do a lot worse than Man Bites Dog, a Belgian French Dog reputedly made on a budget of £1000, very sick, don't watch it if you didn't like Seven or the sort of film where a serial killer is out and about. But if you are not that sensitive it will entertain you, and make you laugh, although possibly for so many reasons, that are so very wrong that it makes like Jay doing the Goodbye Horses thing look like the act of a saint. :S

A camera crew follows a serial killer/thief around as he exercises his craft. He expounds on art, music, nature, society, and life as he offs mailmen, pensioners, and random people. Slowly he begins involving the camera crew in his activities, and they begin wondering if what they're doing is such a good idea, particularly when the killer kills a rival and the rival's brother sends a threatening letter. Written by Ed Sutton <esutton@mindspring.com>

And yeah I know it sounds horrible and quite graphic, and trust me it is not for the grandma loving feint of heart.

Oh and if you've not seen Clerks 2, I'd watch it I'd say it is ironically for a sequel as Good as clerks, or at least just as funny, so if you liked Clerks you probably should dl it and watch it. And for the sake of your sanity you should probably fast forward over the Randle Graves stag do. FYI he's the guy running the convenience store in Clerks next to Dante's video store, really that is not something you want to see twice or actually once or actually at all ever but you know what Kevin Smith films are like.

The Red Balloon has a small amount of dialogue I see. It's a long time since I watched it. I don't like cruelty in films. I hated Reservoir Dogs for that reason, although the 'I don't want to be Mr. Pink' scene was pretty funny. I did love the first Kill Bill though, but the violence was campy and way OTT.
