@Bob I know exactly which group of people you are referring to. What I object to is the hijacking of the word 'liberal'. Those PC nincompoops you are talking about are NOT liberal! If anything they more resemble fascists in the way they love to stifle freedom of speech. And yes, the school system is full of them. They are the ones who invented the 'no blame' policy on bullying. I was watching a documentary about bullying in American schools, and it showed this PC moron of a teacher trying to force a victim of bullying to shake hands with his tormentor. When he refused, she turned on him and said 'How do you think that makes him (the bully) FEEL? You have hurt his feelings...' Imagine being robbed, or raped, or whatever, going to the police to report it, and being told 'Sorry, but we have a no-blame policy. We want you to shake your rapist's hand'. This is the same PC group that embraced the idea that there is no such thing as right or wrong, and that every opinion is equally valid, ironically making the job of the school teacher intolerably difficult. They are the ones who had Noddy books banned in schools and libraries. I should also point out that it was these morons who decided it was a great idea to call all children, from kindergarten up, 'students'. I believe the whole PC bullshit movement started in your very own 'good ole USA', and it has poisoned the rest of the Western world.
I don't know who the illiterate fuckwits are who decided to call these saboteurs of the education system and enemies of free speech 'liberal', but they couldn't be more wrong.
That said Bobevenson, I have a feeling you hate genuine liberals as well, using its REAL meaning.

The PC movement is what happens when those who want to portray themselves as being terribly tolerant and broad-minded don't have the intelligence to use logic and reason to make rational decisions. In other words, they are too stupid to be liberal.

Virtually every PC incident you hear about involves liberals, and the professors and administrators of our colleges and universities are the worst offenders (which from an educational, freedom-of-inquiry perspective is bizarre). I believe thought control and stifling free expression are a hallmark of liberalism. I also believe that liberals are basically against free-market capitalism. They don't have the intestinal fortitude to attack it directly, so they resort to other issues like environmentalism and global warming.

The yanks have made up their own meaning for the word 'liberal'. Fuck them! What do you call people who really ARE liberal then??? Discussing anything with you is like talking to a brick wall. You take not an iota of notice of anything anyone else says!

I'm listening -- how do you define a liberal in your part of the world?

The correct meaning, which I posted earlier. I think most people on here are too lazy to read anything but the first sentence of comments.

Quit acting like a **** then bob and start listening to people. It's only your own time you are wasting with such puerile banter.

Bob as I have said before a liberal is someone who believes in a fair shake, a person who thinks that everyone is entitled to the same basis of fairness as everyone else. You already know what liberal means, it is nothing like socialism, but it is very close to libertarianism, although you have to be very clear on where it shares its values, for example the libertarian does not want the liberal person to be free to chose as he wants. does not want people to have the same rights as others, it's very much an anarchist view that people have to suffer under governments that have not been given the right to be free. it certainly isn't remotely communist, what it is is a system that wants to let all people be free on their own terms, let all people see amongst themselves that there is a fairness in society, and nothing more or less bob.

Your idea of a fair shake is to take money from the rich and give it to the poor, and don't deny it.

No bob my idea is to take money and make it fairly distributed, what you are talking about is socialism, we've tried to explain how liberalism differs, in vain but we have.

I don't know bob clearly you have read Marx, you tell me?

I have no idea what communism and socialism is bob, so you tell me?

Bob me old chum I made millions on the stock market recently as I've told you before, it enables me to sit here and retire at the age of 42. I would be a bad person if I didn't just make so much money on the stock market out of capitalism it was scary that I could just sit here on line. :)

You want money bob how much, I'll send it to you. I am stupidly wealthy. I am basically that person that you want to be the wealthy and libertarian, I am so rich, I could buy Europe,
I have made millions of pounds bob. Yeah I know you think I am someone who could never be so, but I am just idiotically rich, sitting on a cash pile I have no idea what to do with. :P
