You should probably of watched the link, I know no one ever does but it's clearly a dig at religion. There's nothing consistent or logical about most of religion, it involves a lot of side stepping logic and believing contradictory things, hence the apologist movement.

Selfawareness is irrelevant, conciousness already exist in very low messures, we have Deep Blue, Quizz Master, Google car, etc that outpreforms humans.

That's not consciousness in lower measures, it's not even consciousness like an ant colony, it's just slavishly doing only what can do; can they pass the Turing test? If not they are just coded machines doing what their algorithms tell them. To be conscious you have to be something like Hal in 2001 you have to be able to do things for yourself and not just because your program told you to do x if y =10 and if not y of x <>10. You have to be able to decide for yourself, if not it's just 0 an 1 encoded to make you do whatever your program tells you to do.

You claim low consciousness but what does that even mean? It can think less well than a conscious being? You don't have a machine that can think you have a machine that only does what we tell it to think and always and forever it will do so. Can you talk to it, does it have opinions of its own, will it provide you with a reason it should not be shut down, or will it just basically do over and over again that which we have programmed it to do?

Now I for one don't think computers will always be just sophisticated abacuses, but until they can do anything like what conscious entity can do they are little more than that.

Out preforming humans means utterly nothing, if it can't think and be aware. We can do that, why I don't yet know but I think we will always surpass computers until they can too. They will just be a tool not an entity in their own right. Crunching numbers 4 billion megaflops per second, well just one flop they are just boring calculators told to do a process, but not able to do something they themselves thought they could do. Even some of the the most simple animals can do that, computers are morons.

I think AI is in its infancy atm, I don't think most scientists would say anything has achieved machine conciousness as yet with the exception of life of course. I think though it is inevitable it will. Getting a robot to learn is hard enough to achieve getting it to act at least sentient or conscious is pretty much impossible atm, at the end of the day the code is still what runs the machine, and the machine cannot affect its code, sure it can build up information but it can't break its programming.

I think there are several criteria for consciousness I don't think your lap top is going to pass any of them any more than your car would.

Being a psychopath does not make you a mass murderer, 1% of the human race are, not everyone goes on a killing spree because of it. Hitler was not a psychopath just a megalomaniac, there is no redemption for people who step beyond their worth, hubris is an evil. A sociopath has a choice to not sin, as all do, a good man has a choice to not be drawn into sin as all do. It's not just how you play the game it is at the end of the day if you win it.
