@ 3sum...thanks for making the point about genetic mutations...I'm a nursing major so this relates perfectly.
After realizing that point I will answer it in two parts. Firstly, I don't think we should judge whether it is moral or not...to each his own.
Secondly, It poses a threat to the survival of our species due to future generation mostly having their male ancestry from just a few powerful males. So their male ancestry gene pool is quite limited.
I'm not a biologist but I think a population with a narrow gene pool is undesirable. For example there could be genes defending against certain disease.
Gene diversity is needed to sort out negative recessive traits in society. Over some time, prolonged segregation of a gene pool with less diversity will lead to too many of negative traits, which leads to vulnerability to disease. Without diversity they won't have many traits to be acted on by natural selection. Any inbreeding takes place it will further reduce genetic diversity.
Is polygamy immoral?
Re: Is polygamy immoral?
Ah nursing major, lamb to the slaughter well good luck. You should have said that in the first place though then we would of felt sorry for you. I kid, I worked in a hospital for 6 years, er wait nursing major you're doomed! I kid, but seriously you have to have to have a lot of stamina. Seriously gl. :S
All joking aside you might want to look up interbreeding amongst "races" and the fitness that promotes. It's an interesting topic and not one the racists will readily acknowledge. But it does show that the more species diversification, particularly in humans the more fit that particular "race" is, the advantages it confers are really something that is not often discussed in biology classes. I'm a bit of a dumbass in biology, physics is more my thing but on one forum I
looked this up quite a while ago when discussing racial clines with certain racists, and it makes for some interesting reading.
Of course in animal species diversity promotes key adaptation dynamics amongst those animals, but humans being basically so non differentiated it not only promotes more adaptation it is surprising how much it does for your children.

@Blaggard yes I am familiar with that....very interesting I love learning about science
