split-brain patients....
What does the nonbranching proposal say about split-brain patients? Are there two people present in the body? If so, is either identical with the person who occupied the body before the operation?
Re: split-brain patients....
In terms of consciousness theory there is an argument that says that the patient has two streams of consciousness. One hemisphere competing with the other when it comes to attending to an object(s).R2D2 wrote:What does the nonbranching proposal say about split-brain patients? Within a normal subject competing streams of consciousness is nothing unusual, but the difference seems to be that the SB patient cannot synchronize the two competing streams into a unified state. As to whether this results in a split personality I don't really know.

Yes. In right handed patients, the left-brain remains connected to beon and will manifest most of the subject's original characteristics. (Reversed in left handed patients.) At first, the right brain will manifest no personality because it is just along for the ride, as before. This will change in time.R2D2 wrote:What does the nonbranching proposal say about split-brain patients? Are there two people present in the body? The right brain is effectively uncontrolled by beon after the split and will be ripe for takeover by another beon that does not really belong. If that happens there will be a second personality, and conflicts.
If another beon does not take over the right brain, it will drift along for the ride, more or less manageable according to the training it gets. I'd expect that living with a disconnected hemisphere could be like having to bring a stupid dog with you wherever you went.

Could you try put it in lay terms instead of overly fancy rethorics?R2D2 wrote:nonbranching proposal
Been freggin long since I read up on this but as far as I remember, one does alter personallity a bit. Yes there may form 2 personallities.
Depending on which eyes one look with, if looking with just 1 eyes the preception with be heavily influenced by either hemosphere.
If looking at an orange the one eye will precieve shape, color and texture, but can't id what the object is, with the other eye one can tell it's an orange but not the other afore mentioned things.

It says that some people are split, for example dyslexic people are more likely to be ambidextrous. If you are El though it says waffle bs until people get bored and then ignore them. He's magic, he knows everything about anything, listen to the sound of one hand clapping. Can you hear it, that was reason dying. That was someone waffling, it's a kind of magic, ah wait it's a kind of vacous unremitting bs, espoused by an idiot, who has absoloutely no idea about the subject but will tell you he is the worlds greatest authority on it anyway.
That is magic, magical thinking.
I have nothing against the guy per se, but does he ever read his own bs? Someone somewhere has to tell him, he's talking shit, without being put on ignore because diddums wants ba ba. Give the remtard his bottle, he does like being right about anything and everything ever, because he IS MIGHTY.
El stop wasting everyone's time, you are better than everyone at everything, you are a supra genius, and yet you can't convince one single person in your life you are right about anything, does the cognitive dissonance start to pain you after a while, or are you going to waste your life just being right always. Will that help anyone even you? Be honest if just pasting constant wins on your win board because you can never be wrong means anything at all, what does it mean to you? Mr always right always better, always more intelligent, never wrong ,anyone who does not understand is a moron because you are the apotheosis of man, the Godhead? What does that really do for you? One must ask are you right brained or sinister?

Bullshit, utter meaningless bullshit, with not the first basis in logic, reason, and science. It had to be said.Greylorn Ell wrote:Yes. Elhorn Grey one long Oxford comma but without the restrain, and the brain, and the sustain.Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?
I've seen those English dramas too
They're cruel
So if there's any other way
To spell the word
It's fine with me, with me
Why would you speak to me that way
Especially when I always said that I
Haven't got the words for you
All your diction dripping with disdain
Through the pain
I always tell the truth
Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?
I climbed to Dharamsala too
I did
I met the highest lama
His accent sounded fine
To me, to me
Check your handbook
It's no trick
Take the chapstick
Put it on your lips
Crack a smile
Adjust my tie
Know your boyfriend, unlike other guys
Why would you lie about how much coal you have?
Why would you lie about something dumb like that?
Why would you lie about anything at all?
First the window, then it's to the wall
Lil' Jon, he always tells the truth
Check your passport
It's no trick
Take the chapstick
Put it on your lips
Crack a smile
Adjust my tie
Know your butler, unlike other guys
Why would you lie about how much coal you have?
Why would you lie about something dumb like that?
Why would you lie about anything at all?
First the window, then it's through the wall
Why would you tape my conversations?
Show your paintings
At the United Nations
Lil' Jon, he always tells the truth
