People have killed each other over religion.

True but then people never really needed religion to kill each other, as modern secular states show, they do just fine inventing reasons to kill each other, some good some bad, most bad.
Ireland was a political issue first, the fact was the protestants were for the most part English settlers who stole land from the Irish inhabitants under various wars notably those under the Prince/King of Orange. End of the day if they had both been Catholic, England had of not undergone a church reformation, Ireland would still have wanted its land back from the settlers. Same goes for Israel in Trans-Jordan Palestine, it was not really totally religious, it resulted from a land grab by the Zionists. Zionism is not a religious movement, if it was they would never of taken Israel, because the prophecies were not fulfilled in the Bible to enable them to do so; no Zionism was a political movement. Most wars are primarilly political with religion finely veneered over the top to justify it to the peasantry a little more. Had there never been any religion I think the world would of been just as violent, we would have just used other excuses for selfish acquisition at the expense of others. I am an atheist so you know I am not acting as an apologist to religious atrocities, but let's put it into perspective, land grabs and violent domination of other races is human kinds way of achieving their animal status not their divine status. I doubt God ever told any man to kill in his name, I think they would of done so if they had seen a twig break at an inoportune moment at the drop of a hat and for no other reason than might is right.

Incidentally you can still read the whole article you just have to ignore the shameless subscription thing pasted over the top. And you can ad block it to with a little creative effort.God angrily clarifies "do not kill" rule.

Maybe it is time I took a deep breath and started quoting the onion myself.
This forum has recently been invaded by a cluster of people who think this is their personal Bible Study.
On top of that, the moderators are threatening me in PM for silly perceived "infractions". Their time would be better spent reminding the newcomers that this is not a bible study forum. I guess they don't have "time" for that.

Sounds like a plan, as someone who in the last ten years of wandering around the interweb forums, and being banned and wot not knows, have a break have a kit kat, or a bottle of booze whatever gets you very slightly drunk.
