Nothing matters when you're DEAD

Should you think about your duty, or about the consequences of your actions? Or should you concentrate on becoming a good person?

Yes let us go to roots
Catholicism and death.. fascinating
What more is there to say about death?
It is waiting to suck the arrogance out of your skin and bones before it deposits you
into a furnace wherein what is left is Hjarloprillar dust.

When you're dead you have no perception of anything so are you getting what you don't want if you're dead ? No you are not getting anything ! To add to the point that you live so that you can pass on good things to people. Those people and the people after that will die and not remember you and so on and so forth until you are forgotten or humanity becomes extinct. So yes there is no intrinsic value to life. But if you look at it from the religious perspective there is a lot of intrinsic value to life and not to be offensive but that is exactly why religion was made in the first place - to give intrinsic value to life because it was scary if there was none. I also agree that when you're dead it doesn't matter to you if you had a good or bad life due to the fact that you're dead. I live because I was biologically made to want to live. Pain and fear are results of evolution that keep us alive even though life itself has no intrinsic value. Albert Einstein once said reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Peerspective

"death is not something that happens to you.
It is the end of all happening"

this bar must be understood before death can bee talked of

If life hasn't got meaning then nothing has, so why even bother getting out of bed in the morning?

You've gotta give life meaning. It's not going to do it for you. And if you prefer to be meaningless then don't discount that others prefer it to have meaning and get meaning as a result. Ye are the Gods!

The meaning.. of life and the 'life of meaning'.

My vision of that meaning is so huge, many call me a crackpot.
That we defeat death in as much as billion year lifespans does.
from stick wielding hominids to makers of star-systems
That we can, take this universe. and in doing so. Sit down on back patio with the designer and partake in a brew.

Us: So how did we do?
Designer: Not too shabby.
Us: So what now?
It cracks the hint of a smile. And we realize all to this point was but 'kindergarten'

Good spirit. I manage on a coffee estate and make my living from the the necessity of a quick refreshment and a standing back to survey the handiwork.

I have worked well in life.. I beat projections. lowered error rates by orders of magnitude. Passed up many promotions to stay on floor level.
work done well is reward in itself. Now retired due to savings. i talk here. i wont change it.
Alea iacta est

I wish i was there. not in suburbia. I have only my self to whine at for my life is mine.
Work for others is a disaster unless you are say engineer working on parts for turbofans or medical equipment.
Work to make something like a coffee plantation is the definition of work done well

May i ask.. IS he coffee you may drink good?

Yes Bernard, What brand of coffee do you recommend for some one who has no discernment of taste. I used to buy Gavalia, but stopped when I could no longer afford it. Now I really can't tell the difference from ordinary supermarket coffee. I prefer a mild coffee as opposed to something really strong, I don't mind reading the paper through a cup of coffee, in a glass cup.

Turbo fans? Have some whoppers to help dry fresh picked and milled coffee with. The coffee is good; used and won in world barista championship.

The link tripled my knowledge of coffee.
So now i can refer to you when coffee is mentioned.

And some may say these posts should be in politics. For the Emperor Barista is unforgiving and terrible in his judgement

i have known people who would snatch a cup of takeaway coffee from my hand.
===================================
bought super a cup each day..one day he said 'promotion time' i said no thanks.
but the coffee?
I did it for pleasure of watching your face..mmmmmmm coffeeeee
===================================
i think if i did not let them they would kill me on spot for that cup. and the lord said.
coffee and a cigarette.

Most people have no idea of the sort of flavours that can be dragged out of coffee. Got pleurisy from Cigarettes last year so Im stopping. Never a heavy smoker, but the pain of pleurisy terrifies enough.... Whoah, pain what!
