I'm talking about the government forcibly taking money from one person and giving it to another, which, if you did the same thing, would be a criminal offense for which you would be arrested and thrown in jail. And by the way, I just looked at a dollar bill, and it doesn't say anything about Caesar, just "In God we trust," of which Satan would be closer to reality.Hobbes' Choice wrote:No, people do it all the time, and perfectly legally.bobevenson wrote:Well, if you see value in socialism, you see value in the government taking money from one person and giving it to somebody else, something that an ordinary citizen would be thrown in jail for doing.Kurt wrote:By the way I'm not an anti capitalist or a socialist I see value in both sides.
When you go into your gay bar in Cincinnati, the man on the door takes your cash.
You have voluntarily paid for a service.
As a member of society you pay taxes, as without that there would be no society; no army , no police - no nothing.
If you don't like it, then please pay attention to what it says on the Dollar bills and render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's

I must be missing something, how/when/who/where. Are you suggesting there is an army of people going around when a country is under a socialist government knocking on doors taking people's money and giving it to others.

You are missing nothing. That is exactly how he sees the world. Not particularly rationally.Kurt wrote:

I've just got one question for the two of you, do either of you have a brain, I mean one that actually functions? Let me try to address your mutual disability, and put it into terms that even somebody with limited cognitive resources can fathom. Under socialism, when the government forcibly taxes people and gives that money to other people, it's equivalent to stealing, an activity that would land an ordinary citizen in jail if he tried to do it himself, but is perfectly OK if the government does it for him. Now, if that's not psychotic, I'd like to know what is.

You never mentioned taxes in your original post. But still don't get your point because all governments tax the populous, Right or left. The only type of government that could be considered to steal from the people is a dictatorship like in Zimbabwe.

Re: SOCIALISM IS THE USE OF FORCE TO TAKE AWAY FREEDOM
This is what I said in my original post: "Well, if you see value in socialism, you see value in the government taking money from one person and giving it to somebody else, something that an ordinary citizen would be thrown in jail for doing." Now, I ask you, my friend, how does a government take money from one person and give it to another? What part of TAXES don't you understand! When a government takes money from somebody and gives it to you, that's stealing, pure and simple! It's no different than if you mugged somebody on the street and took his wallet! But you'd rather just use the government as your silent partner in crime!Kurt wrote:You never mentioned taxes in your original post. Sorry,
I'm in the wrong parallel universe I'll go back to mine now.

The difference is that a government is not an individual person. Governments are regarded as a "personhood", or a person-in-law. This means that to an extent a government can be treated like an ordinary citizen. While in other respects it cannot be treated like an ordinary citizen. So what lands an ordinary person in gaol may not land a 'government' in gaol -so to speak.bobevenson wrote:This is what I said in my original post: "Well, if you see value in socialism, you see value in the government taking money from one person and giving it to somebody else, something that an ordinary citizen would be thrown in jail for doing." Well, the bottom line is that all those criminal bastards belong behind bars whether they be worthless government officials or just worthless ordinary citizens.Ginkgo wrote:I'm not defending or criticising.bobevenson wrote: Quit defending tyranny!
