Mb,
There should be a lawthat makes possible all people to attain the greatest knowledge. There is a perfection that all knowledge ought to reach and which all students ought to attain and not fall short of.
The idea of good is the highest knowledge and that all other things become useful and advantageous only through good. Everyone pursues it makes it the end of all their actions like the eye rest upon good, how it shines with intelligence.
In the world of knowledge, the idea of good only makes its appearance at a time when the people’s spirit has worked its way out of lack of interest and insensitivity. Reason the light of knowledge and truth is split up into distinct elemental forms, human law and divine law, human is known to everybody in the form of certainty. Over against certainty is the divine law where unconscious spirit comes to actuality and rises out of this state into the conscious universal spirit.

Barbara,
I don't ascribe to supernaturalism in any sphere, and less yet in the pursuit of knowledge. It is absolutely inimical to epistemological principles to suppose the existence of the divine. We begin with the questions 'What can we know?' and 'How can we know it?' and use Occam's Razor to guide reason. This rules in fundamentals like physics and evolution, known through sensory perception and phychology - and rules out imagination and emotion as bases of knowledge.

Mb,
Self, which is always under the influence of images however, has to be brought under the discipline and control of inherent good has laws require giving up self.
Being virtuous consists solely in the surrender of the entire self; these peculiarities are no longer needed. Self surrenders its individuality to good the spiritual course of the world. This is virtue when the entire personality has to supersede individuality, to the state of being good.
Nothing short of the most finished picture is the idea of good. The highest truth worthy of attaining is good. Only good we become useful and advantageous.

Barbara,
I agree, but how can we know what is good unless we first know what is true? I surrender myself to truth and find that it is good - and not in a manner limited by my own petty fears, desires and limitations, but a transcendent good, not sought for, but following from that which is true.

Knowledge and truth are deemed to be like good but good has a higher honor, which leads to order and virtue. Now can anyone help from imitating that?
To make good the end of all actions we need to take a longer road. In the element of pure knowing the ultimate absolute truth of consciousness is not mediated by reason and without any assistance of senses persevere until intelligence arrives at the perception of good.
There is perfection of good which we ought to reach, and which we should attain, and not to fall short of. This system of knowledge we cannot afford to be ignored that should be the requisite above all who try to establish truth. Good may be truly called necessary as it clearly does the use pure intelligence in the attainment of truth. Be a slave of good, so that we all may be, as far as possible, under the same law, friends, and contemporaries.
We are custodians of philosophy dedicate wholly to the upholding of truth. Just and good people we copy and not are ashamed of this sort of person who acts wisely and leads a life of fairness

Good is the highest knowledge and that all other things become useful and advantageous rests upon good; all things become constructive and beneficial only by good. Everyone pursues it and makes it their end of all actions has knowledge. Knowledge carries out good in the case of virtue plays the inner principle role.
We philosophers are gifted and in everything shall flow, like a gentle wind from a purer region into likeness with the beauty of reason.
The art of reason is for the sake of knowledge. This purely speculative thinking has the power of elevating the mind into the highest principles of good. However, hypothetical idealists self-contradictions instead of going upwards to knowledge descends into mere opinion.
Start on this discovery by the light of reason without any assistance of sense, and persevere by pure intelligence we arrive at the awareness of the absolute good.
Truth demonstrates the course of reason. What is truth but objective reality, in other words, assurance of self but not just assurance but the bare and simple truth? The art of reason purely has the power of elevating the mind into the highest principles of good.

Barbara,
Oops, sorry. I don't recall having looked at your post before. When I read it just now, I read it for the first time. I was awaiting your reply. I don't know what happened. I'm sure there was no orange light on the frount page until you posted again.
If you accord good a higher honour than truth, does that mean that a good lie is good? Or, alternatively, that a bad truth should be denied?
I would find this problematic because our immediate interests and long-term interests are often in conflict, and what may be a bad truth in the immediate is necessary and good in the long term.
You say:
You don't agree. You say:
Whereas, I think truth is - or I should say reality is, a reality we are able to have valid knowledge of, where correspondence of knowledge to reality constititues its truth value.
But, while I disagree on all this it is merely the philosopher in me trying to nail things down. On a personal level I agree with your sentiment. Again Barbara, I'm sorry I somehow missed your post.

I agree, but that would be to place truth above good - at least in the short term, to submit to valid knowledge and let the chips fall where they may on the good bad frount. To make good the end of all actions we need to take a longer road.
You don't agree. You say:
This is to suggest that there is something 'out there' - some objective reality called good, whereas I'd consider good or bad propereties subjectively attributed to a statement, fact or phenomena. Further, because our subjective interests are flighty - what's good one day is bad the next. Eat the same meal three days running and you'll see what I mean. Or, if you mean good in the moral sense, go from riches to rags. Good is not an absolute quality or objective reality. In the element of pure knowing the ultimate absolute truth of consciousness is not mediated by reason and without any assistance of senses persevere until intelligence arrives at the perception of good.

mb,
In mind is a good rule and bad rule and when the good has the bad under control is called temperance rule of self, the agreement of the good and bad.
Good and bad naturally assimilate to good and bad manners. The same as rhythm and harmony of musical training, imparts grace, and makes the mind that are rightly educated , noble and good.
Be everywhere eager to make good known and know the essential forms
of temperance, courage, liberality, and magnificence. Philosophers must make, grace and harmony and continuous conviction in life. The beautiful mind harmonize will be the fairest of sights.
Principles are regulated by words and conviction depend on the temperance of the mind and beauty, harmony, grace, and good. The same as rhythm depends on a temperate mind that perceive true nature of the beauty and grace; and receive the good and beauty shall flow into likeness with reason.
The mind of philosophers rightly educated, become graceful, the good become noble and good, and when reason comes they will recognize and salute it.
Like musicians philosophers know the letters exactly can they ever become educated. The philosopher who has an eye to see the beautiful harmonized sees the fairest of sights .The fairest is also the loveliest and philosophers who have the spirit of harmony will be most in love with these loveliest. Will know temperance, courage, liberality, and magnificence.
A philosopher is a lofty soul who has quick intelligence a good memory sagacity and cleverness. While the same time they are driven any way by conviction and all solid principle goes out of the window.
intelligence rest upon good. Truth is believe to be like the good but not good; it has a place of honor yet higher.
The master is also the servant and good and bad principle in mind and when the better has the bad under control, is master of self is called temperance. Those who endure to the end of every action are good and carry off the prize.
Truth essential principle embraces nothing less than the entire system of consciousness, the whole realm of the truth of mind and in such knowledge that the truth is set forth not as abstract, but as consciousness in virtue of consciousness.
It tells us be patient under distress is best, do not give way to impatience, as there is no knowing whether such things are good or bad and nothing is gained by impatience.

Mb,
I enjoyed our conversation, thank you.
What presides over just and good actions is knowledge of all objections, ready to refute anyone, not by opinion, but truth, never stumbling at any step of the argument A wise person defines rationally the idea of good. Unless we can do all this, we apprehend only opinion, not knowledge.
Dialectic knowledge is this intellectual discipline I study, must require an unwearied solid person lover of labor or that person will never be able to endure the study
The sweetness of learning, embraces freethinking and absolute reason; a philosophical mind always loves knowledge of a sort that shows truth not so far from the heaven of pleasure.

There should be no friendship among the unpleasant Socrates believed, that there shall ever be friendship among the good, and not unequal happiness but the whole society is most likely to find happiness.
Philosophy the spectator of all time is harmonious, just, and gentle, even in youth is lodged in their heart. Self-control happiness depends upon the better elements of the mind also leads to order and purpose is their any greater blessing than friendship and pleasure burst with passion.
There is an uncontrolled untamed nature stripped of attire in all it true most in youth their character is more readily taken. Knowledge perception, understanding, and radiant intelligence rest upon good. Here ideas comes to actuality and rises out into world spirit.

Come all ye noble thinkers and rise out of superficial state of unconsciousness into a world spirit that exalts infinitude of great ideas, and think away those negative viewpoints.
World spirit has been advanced before; knowledge has power over the intellectual world and the visible world. The instrument of the thinker is the gift of knowledge comes on the scene and liberates self and carry out reason. Then to see, hear or perceive anything knowledge must be there.
Knowledge, it prevents the wild tyrant from entering mind, is forever directed towards things eternal and which are neither injuring nor injured by one another, but all in order moving according to reason; these we must imitate these as far as we can. Now how can anyone help not imitating that which is so worthy?
Spirit is indeed consciousness in the shape of self contains all that is essential and concrete and actual self. Individuality is constituted just by spirit. All these individual moments, consciousness, self-consciousness, reason, and spirit, all at the same time, together constitute “character in its totality”; a moving process of belief. This independent self belongs in each individually.
This spirit the moving process of self pervades and permeates all aspects of being. Self within its own peculiar principle self is the deep life of one does not get isolated, is one with self: collects all the moments into content, keeps them together, and advances within a determinate character of self.

Reason gives filling to the empty ego. The faculty of reason skillfully disposed in mind renders clear and intelligible each being. Here self seeks to become free is the free the neutral point and can be compared with the centre where the two poles one pointing north, while the other points south like magnetism.
The true philosopher from the earliest youth must desire truth and love of knowledge. Is there anything more akin to wisdom than truth? I love learning; my desires are strong in that one direction like a brook, which has been drawn off into another canal their desires are absorbed in the pleasures of knowledge and I mean to be a true philosopher and not a charade.

What contains all that is essential for this is willpower, which falls outside of consciousness, distinct from it. Willpower consists in two forms, consciousness, and belief of self-free and independent.
Absolutes belief makes any determination pervade and permeate all aspects of being and stamps them with a common quality.

Self has two principles, knowledge and purpose, the rational principle is knowledge for example house building is termed architecture, and whereas the other principle purpose is to be termed the friend of pleasures and satisfactions.
Then self-bound together becomes one entire temperate and perfectly adjusted self proceeds to act harmonious just and good and wise.
Self inner and outer is much like a crystal nucleus molecules attach themselves to the middle of the surface in a kind of successive display in which depends on a series. Self the ideal principle pervades the complete inner and outer as the crystal nucleus successive array. Self occupies self with self, discovers self by creating self and this is done only by showing self. Thought is only creating self by self's very own activity; exists only by being produced.
This is precisely what is meant by development. If self were no longer self, then something else would be there, and a change would have taken place. In this case there is something and it becomes something else. Only when self comes forward asserts not just certainty but purpose the pure inner self, in other words, truth.
Self the absolute characteristic feature called sensation it has feelings the supreme wealth of existence because in feeling everything is reduced thought, joy, pain, any mental feeling, seeing and hearing, etc. We are am simply in communion with self in a form of my pure transparency and clarity unclouded because it has self as self equally self, as self-feeling.
