Greetings to everyone!

I once earned myself a BA in philosophy and was particularly interested in epistemology. Hume and Berkeley were my favourites back in those days. These days I am mostly interested in linguistics and I'm studying an MA in a related field, so my main philosophical interests are Austin, Searle, Grice and Wittgenstein.

I'm originally from England but now live in Japan.

This forum is a home where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play. (At least, that is one possible explanation for the amount of "droppings" you can find here). I wouldn't say that "never is heard a discouraging word", but you can sometimes hear encouraging ones as well.

Presumably you mean that I have an enviable level of education which I have yet to put to good use. Hmmm...I cannot deny it. Please direct me to the self-help boards. I would find my own way, of course, if I weren't so damnably helpless, and if I wasn't I probably wouldn't need the self-help. Oh the paradoxes of life!

S.O.B are the first three letters of "soba", a particular kind of noodle from Japan. You can of course ask, but I am not entirely sure what the answer is.
