Lemmie make sure I got this...

The thread is called, ~~~ Worst Philosophy in the History of Mankind ~~~ ...and then I go on and define EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN for this particular thread.

You ask for a shorter version. I provide it.

I really am at a loss for words.

What utter nonsense. Can you provide a single example of anyone but you using conservatism in this way?
I've already provided plenty - but if you don't see evidence for what it is, what good does it do?

Protecting life - not discriminating based on age, & instead of justifying murdering innocent children (developing human beings) - encouraging sexual responsibility - those are examples of conservation principles.

Not spending more money than we have - (avoiding debt) is also a conservation principle... and applying this same principle to government is as well.

Protecting the source from which ALL of us have come (mother and father) by protecting marriage's definition as between a man and a woman - is also a principles of conservation.

But I also aknowledge that there are conservation principles in "liberal" ideology... like conserving the resources of this planet and being less war-hungry.

Bill,
I agree with you that I do think too much - and in fact, I have taken breaks from philosophy because at some point, life must be lived, not just thought about & discussed.

Still, I love to think - and to think deeply. I love to get to the root of things - to examine all of the different possible perspectives, to understand & be in a better position to choose functional, motivating illusions (all thoughts are illusion/subjective) - it seems to affect everything - is the basis of our own self-created sense of heaven or hell.

I will take a break from attempting to persuade you to consider other perspectives, since you seem pretty set in your subjective (illusional) conclusions.
What I will do instead, is let others' words maybe be of influence to you...

"One of the chief functions of philosophy is to remind us of the shallowness of our understanding of things and the massive background of our ignorance."

"An unconscious dogma is the definition of prejudice." - G.K. Chesterton

"There are no whole truths; all truths are half truths. It is trying to treat them as whole truths that plays the devil." -A. N. Whitehead

"It is easier to believe a lie one has heard a hundred times before than to believe a truth one is hearing for the first time."

"People only see what they are prepared to see." -R.W. Emerson

"The number of those who undergo the fatigue of judging for themselves is very small indeed." -Richard Brinsley-Sheridan

"The masses have never thirsted after truth. They turn aside from evidence that is not to their taste, preferring to deify error, if error seduces them.
Whoever can supply them with illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim." -Gustave Le Bon

"Insanity in individuals is rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule." -Friedrick Nietzche

"The human mind is generally far more eager to praise or blame than to describe and define. It wants to make every distinction a distinction of value." -C.S. Lewis

GREAT post.

I can tell you are a deep thinker.

Is it possible that you could apply your logic & deep thought to me?

Meaning that, I too have a perspective. One that is right for me.

Perhaps ALL perspectives are ultimately false in the eyes of reality
but for us now = To each their own. We are not all alike. And that's a good thing.

Good luck to you and thank you for allowing me to re-construct this styling.

...I am glad that you have your perspective and I DO NOT want to change you.

My point is that you are conflating conservation and conservatism in a way I haven't seen before; you haven't provided any examples of other people doing it.

Are you assuming that the word conservatism can only apply to politics? If so, please explain.

If it can even be called a philosophy I think that Ayn Rand's ideas are the worst in the history of mankind.

Can you be specific on what ideas you are talking about?
