Why don't we? Because they are British Overseas Territories. They chose to remain when the Empire dissolved. So if invaded by an American supported dictator then we'd have to do it all over again. It's called honouring your agreements.

Taxation isn't robbery bob, it's the price one pays for having a civilized society. And in my case I pay pretty much the same tax-rate as I'd pay in the States but from my point of view I get a more civilised society.

There is nothing wrong with taxation if it's a single ad valorem tax on property, but when the government forcibly takes money from one person to give to somebody else, this is something the police would throw you in jail for if you did it yourself.
