Top of the Stack

This is a perfect image of our egos vying to be the one at the top of the stack in each of our moments.

Realizing that I am speaking through the ego that is at the top of the stack at this very moment.

I so want to be over this... to be above and away from the stack. Looking down upon it.

The clarity. The silence. The view.

This place of observation, it is superior. It is the point of life; the reason for true philosophy.

It seems to last for me now only a few moments. But they exist in a realm of eternity; Another dimension.

Then back to the reality of the dualism, the illusion inherent in the struggle that is the essence of what it is to be human. The struggle to become the top of the stack.

The vicar had just begun his sermon, when someone at the very back of the church began to giggle.
The vicar repeated his opening line with renewed vigour: "Everyone in this parish is going to die.!"
Again came the giggle, louder.
"Did you not hear me?" demanded the vicar. "Everyone in this parish is going to die"!
This time, outright laughter from the back row.
"What is so funny?" asked the vicar.
The little old man in the rear said, "I'm from another parish."

This is our motto now, mine and my even older mate's.
Olympian detachment.
The long view.
Everybody ends up mulch, but we've had a good time in the meantime.

Besides, that top of the stack thing is a lie. The main driver of human effort is the desire for approval. Life isn't a "reality"-show contest. You don't need to stab your team-mates in the back or crawl over the corpses of erstwhile allies to be successful. All you need is one person to to share your bed and board and a few neighbours who think you're the guy to go to for advice on something. (Oh, and the approval of your dead father. That's the toughie.)

I agree with EVERYTHING you said except I would tweak your last paragraph just a wee little bit -

Besides, that top of the stack thing is the truth. The main driver of human effort is the desire for individualization. Life is a "reality"-show contest. You stab your team-mates in the back and crawl over the corpses of erstwhile allies to be successful. You don't need one person to to share your bed and board and a few neighbors who think you're the guy to go to for advice on something. (Oh, and the approval of your dead father, that's irrelevant.)

So, you're siding with the capitalist propaganda mechanics?
Okay.
But Women's Country http://www.angelfire.com/or/sociologyshop/gate.html has its own rewards.
