With over 200 hits right now upon this thread and not much in the way of actual philosophical opinions in relation to the presence of this chair alone in a stark room I will give mine:
GITMO seems bazaar to me.
Un-American.
Raw, naked, un-American public relations.
As an American I question it's existence and it's purpose.
Why did we go down THIS particular road? This road of torture.
As a philosopher and as a citizen of the world I feel more & more empathy for the detainees and feel as if everything about GITMO is unjust towards them.
The chair represents a reaction to the efforts of a chiseled philosopher who, in their mind, knows right from wrong and their efforts to have a referendum upon their own existence.
