I've been following the Zeitgeist movement for some time. They are a very interesting group of people, I myself find one of their front figures, Jacque Fresco, one of the very few speakers I've admired, and quite possibly the first one I ever admired. Among their heart ideas are the non-scarcity economy, the scientification of the means by which society makes judgement, pushing for technological development of our world, the "resource-based economy" (which contrasts monetary economy, this economy is a none-barter and none-money economy), solidarity with humanity and focus around human needs.
This video is an interview with the movement's founder, Peter Joseph. While I've heard most of it before, if anyone hasn't heard about it, they should check it out. Perhaps giving some valuable criticism to what they see.

Voice.
Chomsky i admire. Fresco has to earn his way.
Then again Chomsky is more specific.
I myself have informed commentary. On all topics Fresco speaks of.
Yet all are in stages of verification. I am no fool. i can only think of so much in 24 hours a day.
Ah.. the travails of a generalist.

Just wanted to thank you for this link. Upon initial exposure, I find it promising. Of course now much more investigation is required. Of course the biggest problem I see is the convincing of the populace that it's in their best interests, as many fear change. I just find it amusing that much of what he referred to, I could identify with. I do believe that what he spoke of, if it can be actualized, is the only true course of an advanced human race.

Wow, just got done watching the first of the trilogy, Zeitgeist - The Movie. It's just amazing how many times I felt like saying, I'm a genius, as I saw in the movie, that which I've already thought, of course, it just goes to prove that ideas can be like a wave, that washes ashore on many beaches all at the same time. I see clearly that the ideas presented are right on target as to placing mankind on the proper course, not aligned with any previous dogma in the strictest sense, though many that fear change, shall rear in confusion, and attempt to discredit. It was beautiful indeed, and breaths new life into one that has been loosing faith in mankind. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear VoT posted this as a tailored fit to my current condition. Now, if only actualization, I'll be able to be productive again, but in a much better way.
Again, thanks for the turn on!

Heh, I actually posted it partially because of the irony that I like this group so much but am very quick to criticize you and that other guy in the thread in the Introduction forum which had ideas similar (the big aspect difference I think, of course, is the non-scarcity concept. I'm very in favour of the idea that humans beings are the best equipped and fare the best when they experience ideal wealth, which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with affording to buy one trillion cheese burgers, but the access to the means not only to be happy but also to ensure lasting happiness for oneself and generations after, which is possible when spending of resources is not limited, but merely used in a clever way as to gain access to new resources and provide means for people to be happy and ensure their happiness).
The latest Zeitgeist movie is best, I think. The first few minutes of it are just artistically astonishing.

Actually I made a mistake, It was the newest one that I watched. I had two pages open with links to the movies, on one they were listed top to bottom, from the oldest to the newest, while the other one was the opposite, newest to oldest, I read the title on one of the pages, got distracted with something else, then went back to the other window, and clicked on the newest rather than the oldest. The Voice of Time wrote:Heh, I actually posted it partially because of the irony that I like this group so much but am very quick to criticize you and that other guy in the thread in the Introduction forum which had ideas similar (the big aspect difference I think, of course, is the non-scarcity concept. Well it doesn't matter why you posted it, from my point of view, as it parallels a lot of the things I've thought over the years. This almost seems an omen, of sorts, (coincidence)

Probably my favourite quote from Zeitgeist Moving Forward:
We have certain human needs, the only way you can talk about human nature concretely, is by recognizing that there are certain human needs... (talking about types of human needs and how we become people of compassion and the likes as a consequence)... The opposite, that is often seen in our societies is a distortion of human nature, decisively because they don't have their needs met. Yes you can talk about human nature but only in the sense of basic human needs that are instinctively invoked, or I should say certain human needs that lead to certain human traits if they are met, and a different set of traits if they are denied.

Yes, this is why I've been into psychology, so as to unravel, as much as possible, that which has tainted me, While I'm aware that acknowledging it now, pales in comparison, to it being right then, what else can one do, and I see that incrementally, it can help as opposed to no acknowledgement at all. So much time wasted, but it's better than nothing. I just wish I'd been exposed to this and other such things prior to any of my children being born. The Voice of Time wrote:Probably my favourite quote from Zeitgeist Moving Forward:
