So let's see...
You are the girl hiding behind a phoney moniker offering me advice I didn't ask for.
I appreciate that but when you think of it, even you could attempt to post something philosophical, instead of choosing to waste a post attacking a fellow member. Why don't you?
Give it a shot...

Fucking 'ell, give me some of what you're taking!Bill Wiltrack wrote:.You guys look up to me. I really appreciate that.
Pay attention imaginidiot, we do. Its that you won't respond to it that gets our goat. But you have to do some thinking yourself.
Of course you are. You just think you're too clever.I'm not slamming either of you. I DO APPRECIATE YOU and the position you attribute to me.
Tell us what position you think this is?
Like I said, not a psychology forum. Although on the whole the images you choose say more about you than us. And not a pretty sight it is.Let it suffice to say I DO choose the images and GIFs to have a special affect upon you.
True theres interpretation and interpretation and thats why images are not used when we really need to communicate. Ever going to say what your interpretation or even the point of your postings are?All you have to do is see the impression. That's IT! There is no right or wrong.
You're obviously not and thanks but we don't need you to tell us this.YOU ARE FINE.
What like you've obviously got an agenda or serious psychological issues.Just...
Be aware of the obvious...
As someone wisely said, there are existing forums where your 'style' would be acceptable. Go find them or at least start putting coherent thoughts to your images here as when you do they can work. Use images to support your words not the other way around.

Hey! I just got an idea.
Why don't you post how you want and choose the content that you want?
And...then let other people do the same.
Got the feeling that would REALLY work out well.
Cheers!
And all the best to you.

And this is why you're not suited for a Philosophy forum. As if you're going to post expect to be questioned. And in general you're expected to respond but you're a touch to fragile for this I think.

Bill, I am not attacking you.
Quite frankly, I am over this stupid debate about pictures or no pictures.
I have nothing but a high regard for your "hidden intellect".
Thank you for your honesty.
If I have unintentionally hurt you, I apologise sincerely.

Re:
Just to make my position clear. I have no issue with the piccys but with the words or the lack of any interpretation, if needed or requested, that go with them. That and the refusal to engage in any conversation about his thoughts, call me old-fashioned but I come to a philosophy forum to listen, discuss and ask and answer questions about others and my own thoughts.reasonvemotion wrote:...

I have no wish to drive Bill away as I think posts can be enhanced by images and at times they are apposite but holding a 'conversation' with them is not useful is my thought and its a tad annoying that on a philosophy forum he refuses to engage when issues are raised with his thoughts.

All due respect, from the moment I began answering your questions your response is the same.
You don't care about the answers. Your questioning is more of a technique to attack the original poster. Whoever that may be.
What immediately happens is that any philosophical momentum is thrown into reverse.
Me, I don't care. I enjoy watching what this technique has done to you.
Your thought process has been destroyed.
You are surrounded in fear. You only come to life when you speak about something you are still proud of within you. That is not a matured position upon a philosophy site.
Your fear shows.
You put yourself in a spot that I don't think you can overcome by yourself.
Look at your first 100 posts or so upon this forum.
Compare those to the last 5,000 or so.
I won't make any assessment for you. You do that.

Nope, its about understanding the posters position. As such, if I don't understand the reply or disagree with the proposition I say so and await a response.Bill Wiltrack wrote:All due respect, from the moment I began answering your questions your response is the same.

That you think you've answered my questions shows how little you understand.
That you feel these as attacks just shows me that you haven't thought through your thoughts.
Not at all, just put into abeyance until the issue is resolved and conversation can continue. What immediately happens is that any philosophical momentum is thrown into reverse.
That it halts you leads me to think its all propaganda with you.
Not at all. My agenda just changed.Me, I don't care. I enjoy watching what this technique has done to you.
Your thought process has been destroyed.
Au contraire, with respect to philosophy, fear is not what surrounds me, exasperation maybe. You are surrounded in fear. You only come to life when you speak about something you are still proud of within you. That is not a matured position upon a philosophy site.
I come to life, so to speak, when I can have a reasoned conversation with someone.
Does it? Care to tell me what it is you think I fear?Your fear shows.
Care to say what you think this spot is? Rather than this sad attempt to psycho-babble me.You put yourself in a spot that I don't think you can overcome by yourself.
Why should I? As I know why I changed.Look at your first 100 posts or so upon this forum.
Compare those to the last 5,000 or so.
I won't make any assessment for you. You do that.

Heard something on the television yesterday;
Most people play the game of baseball. Jackie Robinson changed the way baseball is played.
I honestly can't understand someone having many posts upon any forum without touching the limits.
Philosophy, by it's very nature must take us to look at things differently. YOU MUST CHALLENGE THE FRAMEWORK.
Even if you are comfortable with the present definitions.
I think I have challenged you and ALL members upon this forum.
That's good.
I don't want you to be too comfortable.

You're welcome... Even if you don't understand yet.

Its called being here for a long time. Whereas you post a far higher percentage over time and most of it without much thought attached. I can't understand someone who ranks philosophy by numbers of views rather than content but there you go.Bill Wiltrack wrote:...

You sound like a marxist or maoist. Philosophy since Descartes Methods has been to doubt and think logically and critically about things which can lead to frameworks being challenged but theres no "must" about it, thats politics. One of its main methods is from Logic and thats to examine the axioms or foundations of ideas, thoughts and beliefs to see if contradictions are involved, if so then the axioms need to be altered if the conclusions wish to be retained.Philosophy, by it's very nature must take us to look at things differently. YOU MUST CHALLENGE THE FRAMEWORK.
What does this mean? I presume you mean the categories and definition of terms and ideas that philosophy has so far arrived at. If so you appear to think they've been picked out of the air? They haven't, they've been arrived at after long discussions and thought.Even if you are comfortable with the present definitions.
For what purpose?I think I have challenged you and ALL members upon this forum.
That's good.
Your wants and desires are pretty immaterial to me.I don't want you to be too comfortable.
Oh! I understand. You think or wish to be some sort of gnu based upon your life experiences following your 'prophet'. What you don't understand is that, if undertaken seriously, an academic philosophical education is far more challenging than anything your new-age metaphysical tosh can come up with. You're welcome... Even if you don't understand yet.

I can't help what has happened to me.
I feel I am a modern day prisoner who was freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall that we all perceive, do not make up reality at all, as sometimes I can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by fellow prisoners in this real-life Allegory of the Cave.
I can't help it if it doesn't fit you perspective. I didn't choose this either.

I'm not talking about your 'insight', I'm talking about how you choose to express and use it. I never did ask when I saw your post, did you have it before or after you started following your gnu or smoking the weed?Bill Wiltrack wrote:I can't help what has happened to me.

As far as I can tell you've chased it ever since and I've already told you that your description of it points to you blocking it occurring again through this 'fear' you experienced. Now I think this 'fear' can be reframed and have told you who might have the techniques to do it but you thought not.
Personally, I'd have thought such an 'enlightenment' would have brought some comfort but your posts are full of confusion and angst so my suggestion is that instead of thinking you know what Anglo-American and Continental philosophers have said you should try reading them, they may give you more insight than the mish-mash of new age 'eastern' philosophy that you appear to proclaim has so far. Ouspensky was interesting but you miss that his way was a unification of the internal and external, an understanding of their relationship, which you appear to be far from in your thoughts.
If not then I suggest actually completing one of the eastern practices rather than the western versions. Sign yourself up into a real Zen or Buddhist monastery abroad and do a few years, given what you've said you may have a head start.

As to public opinion, Socrates seemed indifferent to it during his life and, during his final hours, gave a reasoned explanation of the need to avoid dependency on it.
CRITO: Most people will never believe that it was you who refused to leave this place although we did our best to persuade you.
SOCRATES: But, my dear Crito, why should we pay so much attention to what `most people' think? The reasonable people, who have more claim to our consideration, will believe the facts as they are.
CRITO: You can see for yourself, Socrates, that we have to think of popular opinion as well. Your situation right now is enough to show that the capacity of people for causing trouble is no small thing, in fact it has no limits if you once get a bad name with them.
SOCRATES: I just wish that ordinary people had a boundless capacity to do harm, because they might then have a limitless capacity to do good, which would be a marvellous thing. Actually they have neither. They cannot make a man wise or stupid; they just act at random.

Yes I agree Bill, things are not always what they seem, the construct must always be called into question, as I see the current one as merely a particular version of any particular "Brave New World," and that it's definitely not honest, complete with oblivious slaves of all sorts, to satisfy the few's desires.
