Because I most enjoy listening.
At the moment it is "Imperium" by Robert Harris.
When I compare myself to Cicero and what he had to risk I feel ashamed of being such a coward.

When Verres sent his people to search Cicero´s house they were furious because they could not find the person who they were looking for. They wanted to search Cicero´s wife´s rooms too and Cicero warned them: I would not do that. (the actor pronounced it very well)

Well the original poster has not left but is standing to one side watching the "philosophers" bitch and scratch and lose the plot (as well as the thread). I had just come to the conclusion that it was testosterone fuelled when the comment "...she has left the room" convinced me I was right. There are male as well as female virgins and if anybody was even the slightest bit interested and actually looked at the name of the newby who was looking for guidance in this new field they would have come to the conclusion that not many females are called Richard. Then again.....

So thanks for the introduction to philosophy. I have learnt a great deal ( I mean that) and am looking forward to more debates with philosophers on philosophy in the future.

By the way, I do like the use of images as well as words to get the message across. People have preferences in communication towards auditory, kinaesthetic and visual. Personally I am in the visual category. Using all three when communicating will touch (kinaesthetic) or be heard by (sound) or seen (visual) by more people than using only one.

I have nothing against images if they actually illuminate the debate, but dumping self-congratulatory gifs on every bloody post is a nuisance. Perhaps I should be more philosophical, but as I have no idea what Bilwiltrak is trying to say, apart from 'Technology is amazing,' I think he may have exhausted his potential to use them informatively.

Take a copy of Plato's Republic, in many ways it's a horrible book, but it helps explain a lot of the subsequent two and a half thousand years.
