When I comes down to it, when it's all said and done, mans ultimate purpose is to observe.



In the end we are a complex interchange of hydrogen. Nothing more.


There is an old saying; if you leave hydrogen alone long enough it will eventually develop language and then, eventually hydrogen will observe itself.



We watch, as hydrogen passes through us; hydrogen.

What do you mean by purpose? Do you believe that we are here to satisfy some wish or need?

In the end we are a complex interchange of hydrogen. Nothing more.

Can this hypothesis account for neutrons?

It's a new one to me; can you cite a source that indicates the antiquity you claim?

Hydrogen does not pass through us in the way you imply, it would be lethal.

Everything is Hydrogen.


Hydrogen is the most elemental of the elements.


The simplest element.

The oldest element as far as we know.


By far the most abundant of all elements.



In fact, all that we see and know is just manifestations of the now complex crossroads of the many evolutions of Hydrogen.



I spent many years in an ashram. The tale of Hydrogen was discussed within the context of these, mostly informal, group settings.

How many years and what the hell did you do there to make you so confused?

From the sounds of it more meditation, physical discipline and growing veg rather than chatting like dippy-hippys should have been the order of the day. I take it a lot of weed was smoked as well.

I know.

But that was after this one which I attended as a mature student which I'm more proud of as it was the only Poly with the right to award a B.A.(Hons) in Philosophy.

Polytechnic of North London
The Polytechnic of North London was founded by the 1971 merger of the Northern and North Western polytechnics. Its first Director was Terence Miller, former principal of the University of Rhodesia.[6] Until the passing of the Education Reform Act 1988, it came under the control of the Inner London Education Authority, part of the then Greater London Council. Degree awarding authority resided with the former Council for National Academic Awards until the polytechnic, a pioneer of widening participation and access to higher education, was granted university status under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992.
After leaving Oxford in 1964, the renowned historian A. J. P. Taylor lectured at the Polytechnic until his death in 1990.[7]
In 1984, Patrick Harrington, a prominent member of the National Front, and deputy editor of NF News, and also a university student, was the subject of protests by students who picketed and boycotted his lectures, arguing that his presence made life intolerable for ethnic minority students.[8] Disputing this, Harrington obtained an injunction which the protesters, backed by the students' union, ignored.[9] At one stage the President of the National Union of Students, Phil Woolas, reported that the Polytechnic was "simply not functioning any more," with lecturers defying the courts by refusing to give names of students on demonstrations.[10] Two student leaders were sent to prison for 16 days for contempt of the court order preventing them from barring Harrington and the Secretary of State for Education, Sir Keith Joseph, threatened to close the Polytechnic down.[11]
In December, David MacDowall, then Director, resigned after pressure from the Inner London Education Authority to make a complaint against Harrington for remarks he made in a radio interview. ILEA said the remarks were racist, which Harrington denied.[12] In his resignation letter, Dr. MacDowall admitted that he had acted "in a totally fascistic manner" over the issue and wished "all the picketing students the best of luck with their campaign."[13] Harrington subsequently faced a disciplinary hearing for a television interview in which, in line with NF policy, he questioned the right of black people to citizenship.[14] In January 1985, with a new Director, John Beishon, in post and final examinations approaching, the Polytechnic, students' union and Harrington agreed a deal in which his classes would be taught separately in another building.[15] He eventually graduated with a degree in philosophy.[16] Dr. Beishon remained at the Polytechnic for three years.[17]

Philosophers eh!

Even more interesting Harrington went on in later life to disown the far-right calling them Nutzis and embrace the idea of a multi-racial society albeit under one with an overarching cultural and political ideal.

Oh! I get it, you think being proud of ones achievements is something shameful, a 'sin' so to speak.

My reading of you yells that you were raised a theist, Catholic probably, lost the faith and have been seeking the reassurance ever since. Hence your belief in an ultimate purpose. I think you should give-up the idea of philosophy and return to your faith, Liberation Theology may be more your bag.

are you kidding me?

if observing was the purpose, we would not have been created with the need to eat and procreate to survive. we would have been born as indestructible floating eyeballs.

mans purpose is to go forth and multiply.
to do that we must learn to procreate and avoid destroying our planet and ourselves.
we accomplish that by following the golden rule.

the purpose is to find purpose and happiness for an awareness that suddenly popped into existence and wanted to know where it came from and why it was here.

since there was no apparent purpose it finally realized it had to create its own purpose and that is where we come from.

\it is really lonely being the only awareness in the universe so that is why we create other awareness's so we can have fellowship with one another and enjoy this beautiful perception of reality we created.

so lets stop destroying our beautiful planet and our beautiful fellow humans and start fellowshipping and enjoying our existence.
