~~~ MEET JESUS ~~~
Meet Jesus
This is a little bit different post than you may be used to.
This is an active thread.
This thread will not tell you how or what to think. This thread will characterize, to a degree, your relationship to philosophy at this moment.
If you decide to invest your time into watching this video I would like you to answer a philosophical question in relation to it:
Who, in this video, best represented Jesus to you?
My philosophical thesis for this thread: I'm asking for individuals to participate who realize that they have an active relationship to their own philosophy at every moment and that this relationship is far more important than any philosophical text that they might parrot today.
Philosophy is alive!
I have to say I did not watch the whole vid. I don't understand the question and do not think it will be any clearer watching the whole thing.Bill Wiltrack wrote:.
Jesus is not represented there in any sense.
Where have you been, BTW?
OK. I appreciate your response to the question of this thread Chaz. - And yours is a good answer.
I left this forum because a mod was messing with my posts. It disturbed me at the time.
Also, I was becoming very disappointed in me; my posts themselves & my relation to them.
My ego was becoming too strong. I become too self-righteous. Too head strong.
It's borne out of the medium here on the internet. It's a double edged sword.
It is fun to literate ones thoughts and to defend them on a potentially world wide audience.
In another way, words and thoughts should not be too strong in me. In a philosophical sense, I feel like words actually limit or restrict in some way.
I think that is why I like to use images & GIFs even within a forum such as this.
So, it all worked out well. Kind of natural.
I came back to post something in respect to Martin Luther King Jr.. I did that.
I have made a similar observation, I felt that I was becoming an opinionated "p****".
Do I really need to take sides ? Do I need to judge, to have an opinion about everything ?
How much do I know really ?
I am probably sadly wrong most of the time, so what´s the point ?
I feel the same way duszek. But then sometimes...if we don't say a word and instead try to be humble and quiet...there is no guarantee that a better outcome will happen. I have raised 2 children and they are very kind and polite men. However...I wonder if I raised them differently if they would have been better off in this world. My mom was a control freak.... raised us with the fear of God, a spanking now and then and the idea that work came before school...i.e. money was more important than intelligence. My sis and I are very hard workers...always able to feed our families...even if it is not extravagant. I did not instill that mindset in my kids...instead I gave them everything so they could concentrate on their education. I worry now that I did them a great disservice. Perhaps being outspoken and controlling helps aid the child in a life he is better equipped to survive.duszek wrote:I have made a similar observation, I felt that I was becoming an opinionated "p****".
Duszek....sometimes I think we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.
Re: ~~~ MEET JESUS ~~~
I am a sad example of someone over-qualified and under-achieving. I survive on my own but with terrible fits of despair.
We can feel if someone is kind and well-intentioned, even if controlling and despotic, and we oblige or not.
It is difficult to make good choices, for oneself and for other people.
Sometimes novels can be good for something, when for example one person is sponging on another and the miserable fool is unable to see it. So novels can sometimes spare you misery, but listening to friends in trouble and watching what goes on in real life are just as good.
I wonder if it is at all possible to waste one´s time. No matter what we do we do get some experience which we can use for later choices.
These are all great responses. I really appreciate them.
You are allowing me...giving me strength, to stand in the emptiness.
It's a strange predicament.
Not approaching death but being dead. Estranging from the drama, the Gordian knot of my tiny life's attentions.
I think some honesty and perhaps even some philosophy unexpectedly appeared to me here.
It's an odd feeling on the back nine.
Consciously not thinking. Not intellectualizing and not being able to justify the process.
Is it because you have to say good-buy to your babies, Bob ?
President Obama is going to recycle them, and for good reasons.
How about bow and arrows ? It is an art in Japan, you train your mental and physical precision and get balanced that way.
I heard that Red Indians are starting to give courses in bow art on their reservations.
Please, don't get me going on Indian reservations! When my American Energy Party gets into power, the Bureau of Indian Affairs will be immediately abolished. Is this America or not? You might as well have a Bureau of Neanderthal Affairs since they form a larger percentage of the population than Indians.duszek wrote:I heard that Red Indians are starting to give courses in bow art on their reservations.
Re: ~~~ MEET JESUS ~~~
Indian gaited communities ?
Indian recreation areas ?
What would you call them if you became the President ?
Re: ~~~ MEET JESUS ~~~
Bureau of Ape Affairs ?
Diaries of a man were printed in the Harper´s Maganzine. A man went ape because he could not get a woman he felt entitled to and so he shot some women in a gym in L.A.
This man was under a sad illusion about the bliss of a relationship. He should have been given a book by Kirkegaard. A philosopher who kept running away from a relationship and explained in detail why.
What would be a politically correct term for a Bureau taking care of people suffering from illusions ?
