their own people

not at all

one set of ruling elites - the british - were turfed by another set of ruling elites - the local rich landowners

as it often happens the elites pretended to do it 'for the people' and used the people for their own purposes

it comes down to the sad fact that the high school version of american history is one of the biggest loads of horseshit to ever be foisted on the american people

and the sainted george washington was one of the greatest con men of all times

and then quickly after a couple were charged with treason, and then after all that crap, a split second later, there was a new president and the laws were changed and none of that horror would've happened. for example, 'TODAY YOU ARE TREASON!!!' oh... well sorry for all the aftermath but tomorrow you are not.

wtf???[/quote]

you should go hunting with a member of the the nra sometimes and watch how responsibly they get drunk before they start the hunting

anyone who thinks that the nra is about responsible gun ownership has never met an nra member

The NRA is too left wing and liberal for me. Welcome to the U.S. Gun Club -- Not for the namby-pamby.

What does it take to be a member?

For example, a woman alone buys a gun and wants to learn how to use it, would the U.S. Gun Club be the place to go?

I am not sure that I believe you. Any hunter knows that dawn and dusk are the best times for hunting, so the people you refer to would have to be up all night in order to be drunk while hunting at dawn.

One time, my family invited some friends to go hunting with them, and these friends slept in late, got drunk, then went out in the afternoon to shoot up a small tree with their semi-automatic rifles. But those friends were required to leave immediately and never invited again. I can't say if they were NRA members or not.

I can say that I have been an NRA member, and no, I do not get drunk. Just like all fund-raising organizations, membership is acquired by making a donation--one is not required to attend classes, or even have a brain. I am sincerely sorry that the people that you have known are of such low quality and can only hope that you will be able to find more reputable friends in the future.

gee perhaps i overstated things a bit

most nra members are reasonably responsible - which includes storing guns safely - not mixing guns and alcohol etc

however there are plenty who should not be trusted with anything more dangerous than a spork - there are enough of them to question whether nra - as an organization - has much of a commitment to gun safety

Question #1: That still needs to be established.
Question #2: Definitely!
