On the personality of Vladimir Putin

Post by The Voice of Time »

There's a book out now, which I haven't read, and will not talk about, but just mention it, there's book out now on him which I've been seeing the shelves and which seem to promise an in-depth view of his character.

But onto topic: I have been for a while now studying and reading about mr. Putin on various places, seeing videos of him a lot on youtube, or videos where people mention him, and have heard people talk about him, as well as reading news articles and other texts about him or mentioning him.

About his personality - he strikes me as a very "fair", in his own way, person, while not exactly the kind you would ever think of putting in the same sentence as "nice" or "dependable" (at least when it comes to thinking about your needs), and he can play his way with the truth, sometimes to broaden it into obscurity, and sometimes to tell a careful lie easily mistakable for truth, but he can also be very frank, almost exceptionally frank and straight-forward (in his rethoric), whereas leaders around the world tendencate to be very clumsy in their directness when they have much to loose politically, he doesn't "cover up" when in the spotlight in that he takes time to answer people fully while, unfortunately, not always letting them continue on with saying bads things about him (although that may just be part of a systematic tendency... only time will tell how much of the suppression in Russia is headed by central authority and how much is just part of a bad habbit among the subordinate leaders and -authority, as a remnant disguised tradition of the past).

He is the kind of guy you could feel comfortable with, if you yourself are very logical, you could feel very comfortable when approaching him on things because he will give you a direct answer, not of course, that you can depend on understanding what HE means with it, but you get it, and that's important thing. In politics he gives you the kind of feeling that a polymath gives science. This guy knows every game, and plays them successfully though from a weakened position (Russia's position in general... the rise of China which while positive now could be very worrying in the future, and the high influence of other nations having risen or reclaiming power once held tightly or animated from Moscow). He is like a shining knight on Russia's leadership with his hands always on the sword and a habbit for tapping it vaguely but threateningly and giving a... possibly but then hidden... nod to some footmen to deal with matters he does not like... or possibly there is mental nod there that happens without him having to spell it... who knows really...

All in all... Putin means business and leads a country on his own charisma of solidity. I think his shining knight attitude is good for the economy, but being a knight he has the brute mind of a warrior also, who will charge if necessary. Putin wants peace, but just like a business man who wants a deal and mutually profitable solution; Putin... or his apparatus since his job is too big for one person... wants to set the terms of agreement, and like a poker player, he may sometimes loose in the political game (like supporting the loosing part in a reluctance to give up profitable relationships), but he is a solid player, and while he might loose in the short term of any round of games with other professionals, he may very well win in the long term.
