Lone Wolf's Intro

Post by Lone Wolf »

As my user name indicates, I'm a person who enjoys his time alone. I'm a 72 year old retiree who spent his entire career writing procedures and work instructions so people would have rules about doing things. I hated routine and rules, but didn't really become aware of my distaste until mid-life crisis when I was in my early 40's. That was when I discovered my life had been a lie. I was born and raised southern democrat and southern Baptist and thought I knew everything until I reached the crisis. Suddenly I discovered that what I had accepted as truth all my life was incorrect. Since then I have been on a search for meaning in my existence. That there is a higher power, I have no doubt. However, I do not accept organized religion of any type. I live in Texas in the midst of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh republicanism and am amazed that these people actually believe what they are told. My wife of 51 years is an ardent liberal and is anti-conservative to the extreme. As far as what I know, I only know two things: IT (my definition of God) is and I am. Beyond that, everything is open for discussion.

I will do a lot of reading in order to learn people's opinions on this board and will offer an occasional opinion of my own.

Hello, Welcome to the forum. Interesting work, writing rules but hating rules, would be a tough row to hoe. I worked on the other end of that process, I taught shop and then worked in industry making things, according to rules and procedures.

I would be interested in your concept of God. On another forum I was accused of having a concept of God so broad that it could include 'Invisible Pink Unicorns', I really couldn't contradict that.

I have to confess that IT is not an original idea. I got it from THE APOCHRYPHON OF JOHN in which Jesus explains the story of creation to John. In it he says, "In the beginning was IT. IT had no name because none came before IT to name IT." Since my perception of a god is that no one can even conceive what IT is, so no one can know what IT wants, needs, loves, hates, etc. Invisible pink unicorns is a possibility. IT, like anything else, is in the eye of the beholder.
