Do you believe that there is a set of moral rules or a code of conduct that every human being in the world should follow? By this I don't just mean having everyone agree on an arbitrary set that "works", but specific rules of conduct that are valid, true, correct, or right for every person? -- For example, rules that if followed will get a person into "heaven" (if you believe they come from a "God"), or which can be demonstrated as correct through application of reason or the scientific method.

I am not a preacher and despite what most of the morons here think, I am not a guru.
I describe reality as I see it. I do not give advice as to how to deal with this reality or how you should react to it.
This demands a more precise analysis of the particular individual; blanket statements, like those involving universal codes of morality or feel-good recipes for living the "good life" I leave to the imbeciles of this world or to the con-artists taking advantage of increasing stupidity.

How one should act and react to the circumstances is dependent on each individual's strengths and weaknesses and his/her desired goal.
If, like most, the individual is incapable of dealing with reality beyond a certain comfort level and (s)he desires to live a comfortable, predictable, safe life then remaining true to whatever ideologies exists in his/her social and cultural environment is the best option; remaining dull, parroting popular myths, and a blind automaton promises the best returns for him/her.

As you can see most have chosen this route.

You answered your own question by offering a goal.

What is the desirable outcome...what is the ideal which spurs someone on?
If you are asking me what my guiding principles are, without saying that anyone should adopt them, then I can say they are the "aristocratic ethos" based on the spiritual principles of an Aryan culture; one which includes Buddhism, Hinduism, the Hellenes (Doric in particular) and pagans, in general.

If you can get over the brainwashing and the programmed reaction the term "Aryan" might produce in you then I would suggest reading books on paganism, how the ancient Greeks lived, on the original Buddhism, on Hinduism and its caste system and Traditionalists like Evola, DeGuenon, Spengler...Nietzsche, and many others.

I have written about the aristocratic Ethos and I have posted it on my Blog and in the Forum I frequent.
This place is not the right place for such discussions.
