Daring to believe in God today, is unfashionable. Why? Because you lose everything, emphasis on materialistic.

Daring to believe in god is unfashionable because its medieval thinking. Its nothing whatever to do with materialism.

"Daring" is a daring word to use... dramatic, as if a believer is pitting themselves against all non-believers when in fact, 'God' has become nothing more than a word that has lost it's meaning solely because far too few have any idea what (a) 'god' is. Ask 100 people what 'god' is and you'll get 100 different answers. Preachers, Rabbis, Priests, Reverends... no matter the faith, no matter the title, the vast majority of those who 'speak for god' are just as fallible as those whom they address. This only compounds the misunderstanding, creating even greater myths and more confusion until society approaches, per your quote, "... the last days (when) people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, lovers of pleasure," all due to lack of knowing themselves.

There is a reason there is 100 different versions of god.
I think we have always been in the 'last days' since money was invented. I'm not expecting views on god or whether or not such a thing is meaningful to have any bearing on the 'last days'.

What have you lost by believing in god? Today, I will watch multi-millionaire preachers on TV asking for more and more money be mailed into them by the viewers. (I actually don't watch them, but I know they are there when I flip through channels.) It appears one may believe in god and use it to start a million-dollar business. What is lost again? One also joins the majority in a nation like the US, so what does one lose by joining the majority?
