I agree too however I hope that at least some people who have read her books are then inspired, by accident or design, to explore this or other genres further and discover such gems as Stoker's Dracula. I feel that this exploration process should apply to all forms of literature, art and entertainment (yes, even including the Twilight series), even as I remember moments where I extolled the originality of this author or that songwriter only to be enlightened by others that the ideas were based or similar to an other's earlier work.Thundril wrote:Anne Rice's books are interesting, challenging, and in many ways an innovative approach to the vampire gemre.. But IMO, Stoker's Dracula is way out on it's own.
And following that, and though I never need any excuse to do so, I recommend watching Dracula (1958) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051554/ and Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059127/.
