hindus goddesses do not make coffee for the gods which does not prevent hinduism of tending towards being rather sexist
That's the Hindus. The Celts worshipped goddesses and had women lead them into battle.

are these countries typical of islamic countries in general
the two countries with the highest population of muslims are india and indonesia
Population is not the factor. The critical factor is what is essentially in the holy verses of the Quran. Muslims are called upon to defend their religion against threats. (this is due to psychological insecurities). To defend their religion as expected by the Quran, Muslims (not all) will use all means to the extreme of killing those they think are a threat to their religion. I think the evidence for this is too obvious for the need for me to cite them.

When one condemns the Quran (re suppression of women or otherwise) in Times Square, Picadilly Circus or in any city, town or village in an Islamic country, the person will be subjected to potential penalties, be mained or be killed, by some Muslims, because such acts are condoned and santified by the Quran.
As such, in an ultimate comparision with Hinduism, Islam is the worst in term of sexism.
islam at least explicitly forbids female infanticide
Infanticide is not a religious issue in India or communist China. It is a cultural issue. All good religions will forbid killing anyone in general and that would implicity include infanticide.
On the otherhand, Islam explicitly and implicity condone the killing of non-believers.
nothing in religious scripture is carved in stone unless you are either an idiot fundamentalist or an idiot atheists who insists that literal interpretation is the only correct one - this is known as a straw man argument
The default of the Abrahamic religions is, their holy texts are immutable as no fallible humans can be more perfect than God. To change and interpret otherwise would mean one is trying to be more wise than God!

There are appx. 5 billion theists (the majority are Abrahamic) on Earth. Even if there is only 1% (in practice should be more) who take their holy texts literally, there are 50 millions of them running loose with literal verses of violence, cruelty and intolerance in their head. It is very evident from the violence that is going on at least on a weekly basis around the world, of which the majority are related to Islam.

Theists should not be selfish to think solely for their salvation. From humanity's perspective as a whole, theism (some with its suppression of women) is useful for the present, but because it is ultimately based on illusions, is rigid and immutable, and loaded with potential violence, is bad for humanity in the future.
