The Success of the Establishment of the Church of England.

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

Do we have any ideas why Paine was then left out of the main US narrative?

I am new to the forum but I haven't found Chaz's input to be uneducated. Any ideas and opinions should be explored, I don't see the forum as an area to abuse.

I think he wanted to go much further than anyone else wanted such as an end to slavery.
He was accused of sedition in England had had to flee.
After stirring up the revolution with Common Sense , somehow he managed to upset the Americans- can't remember how though.
He did not suffer fools gladly and, when in France working for the revolution, ended up in gaol narrowly missing the Guillotine because he was so outspoken.

But I have not studied him in detail. I read Hitchens' rather disappointing book on him.
But as I remember he was man of deep principle and not up for political compromise.

From my quick scanning , it seems Paine was very anti-Christian and he was the first to call America against the King when Washington etc. were positioning themselves as against parliament but the idea of breaking from Britain seemed too radical.

Paine died in poverty, he was given land by the US Congress but not deemed good enough. It would be an interesting point that the US being founded by a anti-Christian republican who gave away all his rights to "Common Sense" to help fund the struggle of overthrowing rulers.

Paine's fate is a sad indictment of American society.

To judge by the posts of atheists on the 'net, the principle of atheism is irresponsibility.
Christianity declares itself to be founded on the Scriptures, which are full of genocides, massacres, floods etc, actually committed or commanded by their God.
This is a perfect example. The stated purpose of the biblical deity is to destroy the majority of people because destruction is exactly what they deserve!

Is this a forum for philosophy, or is it for something else? Is it to demonstrate that the biblical deity has the right idea?

Maybe this is why so many are believers?

To judge from your remarks you are a damn fool.

QED. My first statement.
