Kurt Godel: The Ontological Argument

Hi Philosophy Now,

I have always been interested in the Ontological Proof and I recently came across Kurt Godel's version of the argument. However, my background is neither philosophy nor mathematics. I would be grateful for any advice as to which area of philosophy I should focus on and/or who I should read in order to gain the necessary skills which will enable me to (attempt to) understand Godel's proof?

Thank you,

Bernado :D

The thing about this is that it only proves that something exists. It does nothing to move you towards the character of the thing you are attempting to prove the existence of.

Then even if you accept the proof - you are doomed to accept that this is nothing more than a circular argument.

It is nothing more sophisticated than me saying;

THIS IS WRITTEN.

Isn't ontology essentially mental masturbation?
