Greetings everyone. The location of this post confirms that I am new to this forum.

I have a tendency to keep things simple as opposed to complex. I don’t like it when someone transforms a simple idea or concept into something technical or more complex than it needs to be. Sometimes I am not as precise as I could be, which can cause confusion.

I use philosophy as a “tool” to achieve my objective, which is to gain a deeper, richer, and fuller understanding of what I am investigating or interested in. I am not interested in wining or losing an argument or in proving anything. I also feel that it is not my responsibility to do another’s work for them. Everyone has the right to reject what I say, blindly accept it, or take the time and trouble to determine its validity or value for him or herself. I am not going to do the latter for that would be doing their work. Doing that makes me just as irresponsible as someone who wants me to do his or her work or proof something.

I view “understanding” as being different than the accumulation of knowledge.

This is why I continually challenge my findings gained through the use of philosophy as opposed to making a conclusion, thereby ending my investigation.

Some people seek out those who are “liked minded” or those who have the same view or interest as they do. I on the other hand, like to communicate with those who see things differently than I do because they offer addition insight that I previously was unaware of. I will participate as long as they are willing and able to AGREE to DISAGREE. Here again, my objective is “understanding” as opposed to agreement.
