My names is Geoff. I...enjoy philosophy. I suppose I won't really say who I am here, because that would be my opinion of who I am! You could ask specific questions if you actually care, but otherwise, I am what I say on here!

Well, I'd like to say that yours is probably my favourite username on these boards! Any story behind it?

Hi there Geoff, welcome to the forum.
Hello Philosophisationers
Blowhards is easier to spell, I'm sticking with that.

Blowhard is also a real word!

I suppose it does have a story of sorts. I was attempting to find a word to describe one (one who happened to be me, but it can apply to others) who examines both the inside and the outside of...existence, I suppose would be the appropriate word.
'Within You and Without You' as the Beatles' song goes :D

Is "Why ?" your favourite question ?
Why ?

You cannot always ask it. There are situations in which this question does not make sense.

Why ask why?
I can't say I have much a better, prepared response other than 'Because it is in my nature'. It isn't always the appropriate question, but I'm curious.

It could be that you are still very young, Intranaut.
Later on in your life you could discover that some things one prefers not to know because one does not need it for anything and if one has good memory this knowledge can come again and again and be a burden.
You cannot delete anything in your memory like in a computer.

So I've heard. I do my best to take the middle path in everything, including my questioning.

Some people sneeze on and despise the middle path because it leads to mediocrity, according to them.
Nietzsche for example.

I wonder whether one could try a middle path between being an extraordinary and adventurous person and being a middle path person. One could be a furious god Dionysos from January to the end of June and a quiet subdued person during the rest of the year.

Well if it makes Nietzsche feel better, I quite like the idea of overman. Not enough to commit genocide, but the concept.
And I'm not much a Dionysian myself, I think I'd rather be mediocre than a raging alcoholic. But I suppose it would do Janus justice to have you flip your personality at the end of the year!
