Generally, we do not think about things prior to getting into trouble with some particular things. For example, I wrote Reader2020 in order to make audiobooks where the persons doing the dialog has their own particular voice Secondly, the ability to automate the process of doing perhaps hundreds of chapters or books at one time. Secondly to have a set of dictionaries by which it would automatically alter the text so that it is was rendered correctly. I call these dictionaries dat files, and my program has six of them, rendered in utf8 text files so that one can use most any text editor to even make dictionaries which can render phonetic reading of foreign text, mine is Greek, i.e, the Greek put into Plato's Dialogs, are turned into transliterations automatically by my reader. Lastly, no installation program, nothing put into the Windows Registry other than what Widows does on its own, the program will run anywhere on your drive you put it. I achieved all those goals with my reader, the last item, the ability to put it out in mp3. That requires a call to LAME, which is a program written by many authors over the years. Despite what this means is that if LAME does not work, it means that my program can only produce the wave files. So, I have been using my reader since it became Reader 2013. It was then that I updated it, but in so doing, it relies on Net framework of 4.0. This means that I can and did include it in the Vista Ultimate project. However, LAME did not work in VISTA. I spent hours on the net collecting the different buids of LAME, and finally found a LAME binary which was produced before I wrote my reader, and had it do a 28 minute reading which went fine. I ran the MP3 through audition to add chorus and hard limiting, as the makers of these sound founts were rather sloppy in their creation. So, no, I did not have to output to MP3, I can always have Audition turn the wave to mp3, however, if I want a quickie, I want the LAME functional.

AT any rate, one can keep specific sets of dictionaries or any particular reading project. There is no commercial package which actually satisfies making audiobooks, so I made my own.

So, I did not write my Reader to become a programmer or a salesman, I wrote it to help me study. One can write, and even win some minor awards doing so, but how does it sound? is as good to the ears as it was in your mind? That has to be tested. Alos, it is a great way to proof read. The eyes often miss what the reader will not.
