Surprise of the Day

Someone listed an 8 bay Sans Digital raid box on eBay as used, for 38$, It had just been listed as I was window shopping. I scarfed it right up, you cannot even get the power supply in the box for that. So, It cam in today, and I could read the box. It had never run, someone had screwed only one or possibly two drives in the tray s before they knocked it over and busted some clips on the from end and doing that it broke the on off switch. It is a box I have never had before from San Disk, it takes up to 4tb drives, for 32gb box. So, I took the front off, so I could work on the switch, I took what was left of the button and turned it on permanently. I put the front back on using folded tape inside to take the place of the two broken clips. And now, it is a standby replacment 32gig box in case the Mediasonic 32gig box goes out for my tv shows and movies stored in the front room system. The Sans Digital even had the screws for the drive trays still taped inside the box. I do have a a 4 drive box from Sans Digital, I picked up off eBay, the guy sold the box, did not say anything about it have four 4tb drives in it. I guess he got discussed with it because he did not read that it takes particuar brands of 4tb drives, the ones he put in it were not Hitachi, so he could not get the box to run right. I just turned reset it for JBOD and it runs great.
So, I got the whole thing for the price of an empty used box.
