I'm afraid the "let's just pretend we don't have a problem" thing is doing nothing more than keeping the lid on a bottle of soda that somebody keeps shaking. Eventually, the lid blows...and the longer and tighter its been held on, the worse the explosion is.

Somebody's got to abate some of this energy...some political leader and party...by admitting we've got a problem, and starting to relieve the pressure by doing something definite to improve the situation. Or else this will just be the first of many such incidents, each worse than the last.

According to what I've read, the person who seems to have committed the crime (a Sudanese man) that set off the riots was apprehended by the police at the scene and is being held in what US law would call "preventative detention", or without the possibility of being bailed out (what English law calls being "remanded in custody"). It's generally seen as a bit harsher than being held with the possibility of being bailed out; however, it sounds fitting given the incident and given the current atmosphere in England. Sounds like the authorities are handling it properly.

It must be a difficult thing to be a young male living in a country that is new and different, and where he is often prejudged as a "problem" by local residents. Of course, it also must be a difficult thing to be a victim of a violent crime.

Another day. More shit is happening in the world. The shit show continues. I have to count myself fortunate that I haven't been a victim of either violent crime or being uprooted from my homeland as of yet. I hope the good fortune continues. But if our leaders keep stirring up trouble around the world, then the chance of one or both of those things happening to me probably increases. Leaders should live in an ordinary home along a street of their respective capital. They seem to turn into assholes when they're protected by guards and think they're impervious to karma.

I regard Manny’s inability to read as the biggest problem between us. I believe it is willful. He is the personification of bad faith.

That's funny: I find your inability to go beyond the ad hominem to be the reason it's not really valuable to discuss anything with you. You never seem to deal with issues...just to try insults, instead.

This is a good case. I ask you about a "problem," and you just channel it into a petty personal gripe. Hence, there's no point in spending any further energy on an exchange.

You'll get more out of discussing issues than trolling. But you can please yourself, or course.
