…wither on the vine under the guise of credentialed expertise and the virtues of peer-reviewed incrementalism.
Comment: The article ignores the big bucks being directed towards AI. What happens when the AI-review replaces the peer-review as the final authoritative voice in what receives funding?

Answer: Humans will then work for AI, and the buck will stop where AI says it stops … which leads to AI officially determining the worth and utility of individual humans.

Vikings didn’t need no stinking piers (shallow draft), but although the moon is pierless only aliens can make the earth unpeerless. (Almost fell off the horse.)

An army of illegals transformed into conscripted mercenaries with the stroke of an autopen could fill a lot of boots that the zeitgeist now dictates should not be on the ground during an international conflict, with the payoff for them being a new kind of abbreviated citizenship, the kind that allows for a career in either the food service, housekeeping or agricultural industries, the slave-class kind of existence that already exists underground in the shadows with complicit employers.

It would certainly give senators’ sons and other connected, special folks a better chance at exemption. Based on the premise that all things are possible given the proper conditions, such a specialized conscription would likely mean that the pendulum has swung too far away from sunshine, lollipops, and government corruption that bigly raids the cookie jar, a process that isn’t illegal once it has been institutionalized with agency rules and regulations, which too many politician peers have allowed to happen, and which is why The People have done what they can to make it end by electing a unique, politically peerless president.
