The lesser of two evils is not going to cut it anymore. After the Trump debacle, we need someone who believes in universality, will stop the wars and fund effective social programs for all. Is there no one anywhere in American politics who can accomplish those things together?

Large scale, highly centralized private ownership of industry is fundamentally undemocratic and unfair. There are many social programs run by government agencies that have worked. Education, medicare, postal services, social security, FDA, CDC, FAA. Those programs have ensured public safety very well, that we take for granted today. However, they are repeatedly assaulted by private industry barons that simply want to enrich themselves.

Perhaps large scale production can be run by democratic institutions of workers who work in the industries they are running. Smaller shops can operate on private ownership but if they become a monopoly or "too big to fail" then they should be turned over and operated democratically by workers instead of simply feeding the coffers of a few ultra wealthy individuals. The US has turned into a 2nd world country (even 3rd world in some parts), thanks largely to deregulation and monopolization by the wealthy few who skim profits off the top and leave the majority below them impoverished. The US has had great success with government agencies run alongside private enterprise. However, when private enterprise gets in a mood to increase their personal profits, it usually means moving away from government management and everyone else loses. The US Is a disaster right now thanks to people like Bezos, Musk, Trump et al. who have turned the country and the world into their personal playgrounds.
