Another new member introducing himself

I was born just months before the end of WW2 into a strict Catholic family. As a result I was educated in a Catholic school & was even an altar boy. Interestingly for me, I never bought into any of what they taught me regarding God, free will, spirituality & the supernatural. As far as I was concerned, I was a product of Nature & lacked any ability to appreciate any supernatural componnent in the world I found myself living in. As a teenager I discovered prehistory in the fossil record (such as the early transitional reptile/bird Archaeopteryx) & found the courage to confront my Dad with the fact that I didn't believe in any of the religious stuff. He forced me to go to Confession where I told the priest that I didn't believe any of this religious stuff & that I was being forced to be in his Confessional. He told me to get out & not come back. From thhen on my Dad let me sleep in on Sunday mornings as the family went to Mass.
Growing up was difficult due to my having inherited the genetic problem bipolar mania from my Dad. My interest in science led me to achieve a degree in chemistry. My involvement in the sciences led me to question many of tthe aspects of life that I had been taught to accept without question, such as free will.
One of my current interests concerns deliberate, masochistic self-abuse in order to generate euphoria as the result of endorphin release. I have visited professional torturers in major world cities & none of them have found my limit for pain produced by the concerted application of whips & canes. I now collect pain-inducing instruments in a search for the most potent & effective.
I look forward to discussing these topics with others here.
