Spring forward, fall back

The UK switched back to Greenwich Mean Time in the early hours of this morning, hence the little ditty, spring forward, fall back (the only context that I can think of, incidentally, where we regularly use "fall" for autumn), a biannual clock-changing ritual, mercifully almost always completely automatic, these days, on our various devices, which I find not only to be completely pointless, but actually quite disruptive. I don't have a natural diurnal rhythm, which is regulated mainly by light, and if left to my own devices I would fall asleep and wake up whenever my body felt like it, at any time of the day or night. Whenever I've allowed that to happen I just start feeling like absolute crap after just a day or two, so to combat this I have to keep to a strict daily schedule, up at 6 AM, exercise, and so on. Consequently, when the clocks go forward or back, I'm out of kilter for a while. Oh well, that's life, I suppose.
Anyway, other than that, there's not much to report. It's always busier at the leisure centre during term time, with the kids from the nearby school sharing our facilities, but we have the half term holidays this coming week, though, which will be a relief. I was planning to visit a friend in York, but that's fallen through, sadly. I haven't been going to the moot these last few months, as I found it to be a bit boring.

Nice to see you back Maia. I noticed someone on X complaining about the 'spring forward, fall back' thing. He pointed out that most of the time if you fall, you fall forward, which is true when you think about it. And you can definitely 'spring back'. Interesting about your diurnal rhythms. I've never been a person who just sleeps for 8 hours at night and wakes up in the morning. I always have a couple of awake hours in the middle of the night. I read recently that this used to be what everyone did, In mediaeval times people would get up and feed animals, visit neighbours etc. Unfortunately there's no real reason any more to be awake at that time

Thank you.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense, about medieval life. We are far too regimented nowadays. Back then, people were far more in tune with the seasons, for example. I'm not sure how that would affect me, but diurnal cycles are definitely mostly to do with light perception. Other factors, such as temperature, only have a tiny part to play.

When one does not have an inner vision about what they wish to accomplish in life, then there is a great deal of time one must find to use in any manner they choose.
It is different when one has a life goal which the formulated in early childhood. I was less than a year old, still in diapers, when I formulated mine, and thus, I have always been aware of what to apply my available time to, I just do not get bored.
And, it is a hoax that one can save time, it don't need saving, we do.

Which is, exactly, what you are naturally supposed to and meant to do.
That you human beings naturally sleep daily in no way means that there is a particular 'time' in the daily cycle that you are supposed to nor meant to sleep.

"That you human beings"
Completely consistent with Age's schizophrenia, he places himself outside of human beings.
He is either communicating from his space ship, or some divine alternate reality.
Maybe he does not know the difference between we and you?
A Freudian cross dresser.

Actually, there is. Humans, like many other animals, have evolved to sleep at night, that is, they are diurnal. This daily cycle is triggered by light. Others have evolved to be nocturnal, while still others, such as cats, in their natural state, at least, are crepuscular.

Perhaps that is partially true. I, myself, simply bop till I drop, so be it day or night, it has no effect on me. I worked the night shift for decades, and actually preferred it, as there was a lot less distraction.
I once stayed up for 3 whole days, and then I slept for most of one after that.
I have even worked a triple shift, and slept only twelve hours after.
I let my body tell me when it is time to shut down, and when it is time to get back to work. Functionally, I life off the time zone grid.

If I tried that, I would certainly pay for it later. My own natural cycle, or lack of one, if I allow it to, manifests as me dropping off for short snoozes, or longer ones, at any time of the day or night. So I have to keep to a strict daily pattern.

Here, is an other typical response from a human being who is not yet open, not curios, and who prefers to just assume and/or believe things instead.

This daily cycle is triggered by light.
Of course the daily cycle is triggered by light, and by night. The whole definition of the daily cycle revolves around the cycle of night, and day, light

you speak and write, here, as though human beings have evolved to sleep as some particular 'time', yet you previously spoke and wrote that 'this' is actually False and Wrong.

Diurnal is the opposite of nocturnal.
Humans have definitely evolved to sleep at a certain time, and I have never called this false and wrong. What I said was that I, personally, have no such cycle, because I have no light perception.

And, I do not know of any human being who has such cycle, which has not been triggered nor influenced by their love and want of money, and no need of non protecting.
Now, and as always, if absolutely any one would like a Truly open and honest, peaceful discussion to find out what the actual Truth is, here, exactly, then let 'us' proceed.
