Another of the greats from my childhood years is gone. She had a long and productive life, though. RIP
For the discussion of all things philosophical.

Second that, I have to take her off my bucket list of people I would like to talk to.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 9:54 pm Another of the greats from my childhood years is gone. She had a long and productive life, though. RIP
Perhaps she should have had you for a role model, who has made absolutely no impact at all on anyone of intelligence. I bet the monkey's never even imagine you.accelafine wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 2:11 am How surprising that someone would die at 91. She did a lot of harm, interfering with chimp society.
If she did, then she didn't know she was doing it nor did it with the intention of harming them. On the plus side she has been a powerful voice for saving species and habitats from human destruction.accelafine wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 2:11 am How surprising that someone would die at 91. They were never supposed to interfere with them--only observe them.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 2:38 amIf she did, then she didn't know she was doing it nor did it with the intention of harming them. Such vemom simply for stating facts. I'm sure your 'theory of grammar' has had a profound impact on the intellectual worldPhil8659 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 2:14 amPerhaps she should have had you for a role model, who has made absolutely no impact at all on anyone of intelligence. From what I just read there seems to be some debate and disagreement over whether or not Goodall disrupted Chimp society. In any case, did she do it on purpose, was she aware at the time that the methodology of her study was causing harm on the Chimps?accelafine wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 3:17 amThey were never supposed to interfere with them--only observe them.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 2:38 amIf she did, then she didn't know she was doing it nor did it with the intention of harming them. I suppose she didn't care at the time. She's been pretty defensive about it over the years. I think Diane Fossey was the far more sensitive of the two and as such suffered greatly for it.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 10:26 amFrom what I just read there seems to be some debate and disagreement over whether or not Goodall disrupted Chimp society.
