Migration
When politicians say they want to deport all immigrants who are here illegally. It is a statement of the obvious and fairly empty. The real question is whether the law is rational, in the first place, and then whether it benefits those who run and own the country. Or whether it benefits individuals, regardless of others and the country. Or whether it benefits Britain as a holistic society, and beyond that the world. These are three quite contrary objectives, although not diametrically opposite each other, which would be impossible. There are nevertheless, many politicians who would imagine that two or even all these ends could be satisfied. The glorious British compromise. And that is what it would be, a bit for the plutocrats, a bit for the autonomous individual, and a bit for the national community. To affirm that democracy is all about freedom, is simplistic. The only sure agreement between the three ends, is that of law abiding stability – of one kind or another. It is impossible for some situations to have nice solutions, such as after long neglect of the environment, and of population growth, resulting in our present world, country, and local community.
