Is the Republican Party a Threat to Humanity?

They're radically anti-environmentalism in a time when we are facing possible environmental catastrophe. They're hawkish in a world where nuclear destruction is an ever-present threat. They're radical capitalists in favor of the interests of the wealthy who have commandeered the poor to carry out a war against immigrants, minorities, and other diversionary interests that don't represent real threats to anything. And they currently have almost complete control over the most powerful country on Earth.
Thoughts?

The Democrats are no model party either. But I don't think they're quite as bad as the Republicans. Most of us have been voting for the lesser of two evils for many years now. However, many Americans have reached a point of frustration and anger where they are unconditionally backing someone who will probably bring the whole house of cards crashing down. It's a destructive impulse. It's difficult to blame them, but it's not going to make America "great", unless something better rises from the smoldering ashes of what used to be the most influential country on Earth.

Environmental destruction. Persecution of undocumented immigrants. Escalating world tensions. Scientific stagnation.

Yes. That seems to be the Republican answer to major threats to humanity. Let's just double oil production and deregulate the nuclear industry. What could possibly go wrong?
