The collapse in the birth rate reflects a collapse in the couple formation rate.
Men do not approach.
If they occasionally do, then they rather quickly decide not to come back. He may not even tell her why. Under the hood, the real reason is that all the noise, musical or not, is simply not worth it to him.
If he gives a reason -- most men do not and just move on -- he should probably say something along the lines that in his opinion, the woman is still too attached to some previous boyfriend, and that it is not his job to deal with that.
She may deny the problem, even vehemently. In fact, she may even say that previous guy was apparently an arsehole who left without telling her exactly why.
But then again, all of this is subjective.
If he is not interested to pursue things any further, then he simply isn't. He left, undoubtedly for the same reason as why all the previous guys also left, and she is clearly the common denominator in all of that.
