I've never been to fond of these introduction threads as I've never been comfortable talking about myself. I think on some paranoid level I have this fear that any unnecessary information I volunteer may be used against me at some unspecified point in the future, or perhaps it's just because I can never think of anything to say...

I'm in my twenties and from Britain. My interests in philosophy include political philosophy, epistemology (with particular emphasis on social epistemology), philosophy of science, applied ethics, the philosophy of ideology and the philosophy of mind. Particular influences and concerns of mine include Rationalism in the absence of the Cartesian subject, Marx, structuralism, political economy, Nietzsche and many others.

Nietzsche and Marx ?
But you cannot agree with both of them at the same time, can you ?

Regarding your interest in the "philosophy of ideology", I must recommend Professor Kenneth Minogue (London School of Economics) and his book ALIEN POWERS to you. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... &x=18&y=19 I have the out of print paperback. ( http://www.amazon.com/ALIEN-POWERS-Pure ... 94&sr=1-31 ) I may get this new edition for my library. I consider Minogue one of the leading contemporary political philosophers. Put the book on your to-read list.

I've also read his books on the liberal mind and the university.
