The Ugly Side of Philosophy

Philosophy is merely definition manipulation to produce a psychological magic trick that astounds those unfamiliar with the dynamics of applied meaning in language, and the vagueness that results from this vary game everyone makes their own rules for. Those who play this game the best make the rules for others as those who know the rules know even the rules are a trick.
Abstract concepts are merely phantoms within the mind that noone can universally agree upon due to the shadows of the subconscious hiding everyone within the realm of a subjective experience noone can truly share. Perfect triangle? One cannot see through another's forehead, they can only see a forehead.
Empirical experience is only a personal goat the majority run to for a sacrifice to the god of common sense as the fading memory of good homecooked meal or a first kiss is merely a story retold countlessly to the self from different angles so an anchor can be tossed within the ocean of countless viewpoints to prevent the psyche from capsizing within the storm of perpetual contradiction that philosophy faces.
Philosophy is the game where everyone walks away feeling justified but noone can agree upon what justification really is so they tailor make a meaning that suits them perfectly and because of this it is less of a dialogue of truth and more a means of building a series of Russian nesting dolls within the self.
Truth? Whose is it? Is this even the true question to ask? No, a better method is ramming opinion down people's throats so that after the guest table has passed out from choking on the explanation the innate silence gives a brief relief from the laborious labor of explaining "z because of q, q because of l, so on and so forth until everything begins with z again."
"Where of one knows not one must be silent" if truly followed would leave a cold vacuum of silence hence the only warmth philosophy offers to counter this is the eternal friction of self appointed thinkers.
Amen, hallelujah, so be it...cool...whatever...dude...

All exterior is a projection and finite. When the mind becomes quiet, you are in the presence of the infinite.

Philosophers have developed an anxious intolerance of uncertainty.
The only way out of this dilemma is back in.

The 'Ugly' side of philosophy is...not good.
Hate, violence, think of the nastiest, cruelest, painful, worst aspects of Existence...as a Philosopher, you must wade into it, or better yet, dive straight into the deep end. Most people cannot do this. Most "philosophers", aspiring, would-be philosophers, also cannot do it. And it's difficult, or impossible, to maintain your 'innocence' or any would-be moral purity, in doing so.
Do you really want to put on the suit of "Evil", and stand with the Accused, against all Society, against your own family??
I've met very few who could. Most 'Philosophy' is more cowardly, obsessed with "The Good" only, without admitting to Negativity or "Evil".
Life is easy when you're always trying to stay on the hypothetical "Good" side. It's difficult when you have to stand against it.

Like I said "the ugly side"...one has to see both sides of a coin to see the whole coin. Sometimes meditating on the darker aspects of existence, and the existences through it, is necessary for balance.
But yes I agree with what you say as I have experienced the same.

Very true and well said, there is a cowardly side to philosophers in the practical and abstract sense. Sometimes being the villian is necessary to experience the totality of existence. God sacrifices all, including himself.
In the abstract sense I meditated for weeks on the abyss and wrote "The Prophet of Desolation" in the aesthetics thread as the expression of a very small degree of the experience...a small degree as words do not do justice to experience entirely. That short story is a darker aspect of truth.
However:
One paradox I found about innocence is the necessity of it being sacrifice for truth and when it is it is reborn in a new light. So the balanced approach to truth is to see the light and dark simultaneously, something most philosopher's fail at.

A philosopher who is afraid of becoming a fool is a fool and this fear of becoming a fool is embodied in the desire to explain everything; the Philosopher who is not afraid of foolishness understands the wisdom and knowledge of obscurity for he knows the unknown and its infathomable depths.

Yes and the true horror occurs with the inward realization that the worst of us is strictly the self existing in another time and space. The silver lining to this dark cloud is realization that the best of us is also the self existing in another time and space.
And the balance of all this levels everything so the only deep truth is an absolute and sacred silence that I just blasphemed by putting into words.

Sometimes philosophy is ugly, yes, but we must not allow ourselves to become monsters when faced with
the ugly truth

Yes we must hold our hands high...just not too high or it might be considered a discriminatory action.

Hold your hands high...enough to counter the cross-slap.
