Do you know how A theory of time entails presentism? Do you know how B theory of time entails eternalism? Why does special relativity entail eternalism?
For the discussion of all things philosophical.

First you have to tell us what "A" theory of time has to say about time?
Same question as above. What is this "B" theory of time?
Who says it does?
Ok, I searched last night after posting this thread and I found two interesting articles you might be interested to read: This and this.seeds wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 10:14 pmFirst you have to tell us what "A" theory of time has to say about time?

Explain to us how special relativity entails eternalism?
What's with all of these vague questions, bahman?

So then, are we to understand that when you initially posted the questions in your OP, you had no idea of what it was you were asking?bahman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:02 pmOk, I searched last night after posting this thread and I found two interesting articles you might be interested to read: This and this.seeds wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 10:14 pmFirst you have to tell us what "A" theory of time has to say about time?

Try again, bahman. If you would like to know how A theory of time entails presentism, and how B theory of time entails eternalism, and why special relativity entails eternalism, then click on the following links and they will take you to some obscure and densely written articles - This and this - where you can find the answers.
I didn't expect you to read those articles and explain them to me!seeds wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 4:53 pmSo then, are we to understand that when you initially posted the questions in your OP, you had no idea of what it was you were asking?bahman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:02 pmOk, I searched last night after posting this thread and I found two interesting articles you might be interested to read: This and this.seeds wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 10:14 pm

And that after posting those questions, you had to search the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (the first "this"), along with some obscure and densely written, 30-page article on special relativity (the other "this"), in order to find out what your own questions actually entailed?
And now you expect us to go to those same densely written sources to find the answers to your questions?
Good grief, bahman, instead of your OP reading as follows......it should have read like this...Do you know how A theory of time entails presentism? Do you know how B theory of time entails eternalism? _______
That wasn't the point, bahman.
Are you interested in the topic? If yes, just read! I am currently reading the articles and other ones.seeds wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 6:49 pmThat wasn't the point, bahman.
The point was that you should have explained them to us in your OP.
However, you, by your own admission, didn't seem to know anything about those particular articles until after you started this thread, which, in turn, has us discussing how poorly conceived your OP is, instead of discussing what might have been some interesting ideas about time, presentism, relativity, and eternalism.
Like I suggested earlier, try again, and maybe we can salvage something from this mess.
